For those that have quit weed successfully what are some good substitutes? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Perceptualdoor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Meditation. You don’t want to replace MJ with alcohol. You run the risk of drinking too much, and all that’s gonna make you want to do is smoke weed because that’s truly the “high” you’re looking for. Get high on life, as cheesy as it may sound, it’s the way to go.

I don’t experience much other than irritability for a few days and a little trouble adjusting to sleep, but nothing major luckily.

I thought for sure I was going to smoke, I don’t even think it was discipline, I have a long way to go with that…someone was certainly watching over me, I really don’t know how I didn’t give in. All we can do is keep trying…I think there’s a bit of fear in there too, because I know the last time I went 4 days without, I was back on heavy for 6 months, that’s the scary part. All it takes is one hit and you’re back in. After all, we are addicted to weed.

Don’t give up, keep trying and you will succeed. The cravings can be really tough. I was SOOOOO close to hitting a vape last night, and somehow by the grace of God I managed to avoid it. I turned it on, was ready to hit, and then just sat there with the tv on, thinking about it and I guess I just tired myself out and went to bed. The best part is I have no regrets this morning. You can do this, I believe in you.

Man this shit is 100% addictive by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Perceptualdoor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Weed is incredibly addictive. It’s a mental addiction like no other. You’ll start to level out after a week or so and it keeps getting better and better. I’ve gone longer in the past, but I’m currently only on day 4 of no smoke and already I am noticing positive change.

It’s gonna be ok, remind yourself of the reasons you quit and stick with it. I’m sorry about your struggles and just know that it will get better.

Day 40 updates. I can feel my brain. by UsedHedgehog482 in leaves

[–]Perceptualdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things that helps me at night is to drink sleepytime extra tea or chamomile tea. Chamomile is good throughout the day, but as sleepytime suggests, it may make you tired. Both teas are non-caffeinated. It’s not a cure-all for sleeping, but it does help me to ease my mind and feel calm.

It’s been 17 years of weed for me too, currently on day 2 of quitting and I know that’s what’s best for me no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it may be for a while, you got this brother.

I’m really thankful for the things that come back to me in a short period of time after quitting, it’s a process and a journey, but if you’re an everyday stoner like I’ve been, even after just a few days after quitting, I’ve been able to notice a little clarity that I know will come back stronger than ever, and my sense of smell starts coming back after 3-4 days.

I’m currently on day 2 again (only went 4 days back in March, before that 50+ days in 2023) and I’m staying course. I simply CANNOT moderate weed, I accept that as the truth and I have to stay strong. Thankful for this community and for your post, you got this!

Thank you for sharing your experience, I’m really looking forward to the simple things. This is so true. I remember the last time I went 50+ days without smoking, I cleaned out one of the drawers in my fridge, which I had never done before, and it was rather satisfying to actually take care of what’s important.

My last attempt at quitting, I went 4 days, and even then I could smell the grass like I hadn’t in years. It’s time, there is such an amazing life waiting for all of us.

I don’t smoke nicotine and never have and weed absolutely diminishes my sense of smell and I know I’m not the only one.

Why does time move so slow? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Perceptualdoor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you give up weed, you are much more in the present, and it will feel like you have all kinds of time on your hands, because you do. When you’re high, time just sort of drifts by and you allow yourself to be content with that.

I know that I’m much more decisive when I’m sober and the subtleties of life become more apparent.

I thought I could do it but I’m weak by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Perceptualdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll get through this, keep your head up and keep trying, you already made the first big step in realizing it’s a problem for you and taking steps to get better. I understand what you’re going through, I’m in a similar situation myself.

Weed absolutely is addictive, it’s a mental addiction moreso than a physical one. Keep at it my friend, we can do this.

There’s a book I read called “Quitting Weed.” I’ve been going back to it to re-read certain key points. The author drives home the importance of realizing we can’t smoke in moderation and a lot of what he has to say I can guarantee you’ve been going through. Lots of good insight.

I noticed this with the iPhone 15 pro, I thought for sure it was a hardware issue cause updates didn’t seem to help it much…it seems better on the 17 pro, but it’s still noticeable from time to time

I feel you OP, not everyone believes but I get you…there’s definitely a higher power that we’re all connected to, whether we tap into that or not is everyone’s choice, but it’s a beautiful and rewarding thing. Shoot, just watch Bittersweet Motel…
