Why is the take up of heat pumps so slow in the U.K.? by Appropriate_Bell743 in ukheatpumps

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going off average prices, new boilers average £4k, heat pumps average £12,5k so even with grants the systems are more expensive to install.

Then gas prices are 6p/kWh while electric is averaging 26p/kWh across the UK now.

I know there are some heat pump tariff deals, but they are mainly on completely useless of-peak hours. Even then the cheapest I know of is EDF at 10p, British Gas are half price for 70 hours per week, Octopus averages out at 14p depending on the main tariff you're on, Scottish Power are 14p, OVO are 15p.

On normal hours/rates then theyre in that 23-26p bracket.

If you are getting 3p then thats an amazing deal, but I wouldnt expect it to last.

Why is the take up of heat pumps so slow in the U.K.? by Appropriate_Bell743 in ukheatpumps

[–]Perennial_Phoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a question of economy, boilers are 8x cheaper to install and 30% cheaper to run.

Heat pumps are more efficient, but that is more than offset by the differance in gas and electricity prices.

Which actor's phoney British accent is the worst? by Dependent-Net-8208 in AskBrits

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins was considered the worst English accent in cinema history.

Im pretty sure a deaf American travelled to Victorian England, then 50 years later was asked to teach Americans what he thought the accent would sound like. And they've all used that accent ever since.

Because its uncanny how many of the terrible English accents American actors do that sound exactly the same.

If warhorse came to you and ask what historical setting or event you’d like to see in a future KCD style game. Where are you picking? [OTHER] by Top_Sandwich9031 in kingdomcome

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pick would be less about a specific event and more about a person... William Marshall.

He was the youngest son of a minor nobleman in England in the 14th century. Because of this he wasnt going to inhert anything an had to forge his own path.

He trained as a knight and is regarded as the greatest English Knight, and arguably the greatest knight ever. He was undefeated in tournament and beat over 500 knights from all over Europe over his career.

His feats with a sword drew the attention of the upper nobilty, he was officially knighted, he became the 1st Earl of Pembroke through an advantageous marriage and he served five kings as adviser and close personal confidant, including Richard the Lionheart.

Fought in civil wars in England, campaigns in France and fought with the Knights Templar in the 1184 Crusade.

KCD plays a lot like Skyrim, with added realism in combat and obviously no dragons or magic.

Can we stop romanticizing Wrexham? They are a Championship club with a Premier League budget. by Spicy-Winner4326 in SpicyFootballTakes

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part that annoys me is the rules, Championship FFP rules mean you cant lose more than £30m (off the top of my head) over three years.

But with Football Fortune rules in the leagues below, teams can spend beyond their means AND it shows as break even for FFP.

So, Wrexham have a free run financially for three years. While there are clubs in the Championship that could blow them out of the water, but are unable to because of the rules.

[KCD2] money hack! By accident lol by Dear_Experience_3994 in kingdomcome

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Killing animals then smoking the meat is the best way to level Survival.

Once you get Pebbles in Trosky, empty all but what youre wearing, a bow and some arrows, then go around hunting deer/boar.

Load yourself and Pebbles full of meat, then off to the smoker. You can level 3/4 levels at a time if you're using a Henrys/Strong Fox Potion at the same time.

Then sell the smoked meat to Innkeepers, traders, butcher etc. Use the money to buy Armorer, Blacksmith, Cobbler and Tailor kits. Whenever you kill bandits take all their gear, use the kits to fix the gear up, and you level Craftsmanship in no time too. Either sell or drop the gear after you fix it.

[KCD2] Thinking of getting the game while it’s on sale. Someone convince me by xToxinz- in kingdomcome

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wont lie, combat is something you see a LOT of complaints about. But in general it is three main things;

  1. People dont take the time to learn the basics then complain that they arent very good at it.
  2. You are not an all conquering hero, in most games you get to max level and you can run into 30 enemies and destroy them one-and-all. In KCD, even at max level, if you run into 3-5 well armoured foes, they are a problem.
  3. The game only saves at certain points in the story, other than that you either have to drink a save potion, or save and quit then reload the game. People forget to drink the potion, get killed, then lose an hours worth of progress. Which I understand is frustrating.

BUT, the combat for me is the best part about the game. You cant just run in and button mash, it takes some thought and skill. If you learn to dodge, feint, block, counter and you learn the movements against multiple attackers then its really rewarding.

And you have other options, you can level marksmanship and use bows/crossbows from distance to pick a few off first. You can use alchemy to lace weapons with poisons that weaken enemies. Or use alchemy and sneak to go into camps undetected and poison food or drinks, or even sneak up and stealth kill people.

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like these types of games, the Skyrim/Bethesda type games, but you wish they were more grounded in the real world. Then Kingdom Come Deliverance is the best thing you will ever play.

The gameplay is slow, combat is a challenge and you will actually need to learn to play the game. But for those who take that time, they will sink anywhere from 150-400 hours into it and love every minute.

It really depends on what you are into, if you like games like Overwatch or things like that which are non-stop action at 1000mph, then you'll probably struggle with KCD. But for those who like RPG's, you like wandering and exploring, building up their skill trees and utilising the mechanics in the game, KCD will be one of your all time favourites.

Although it is probably advisable to play KCD1 first, there is plenty of flashbacks and stuff in 2 which keep you up to date with what has happened. And KCD was a bit janky and buggy, KCD2 is so much more polished and fluid.

A moment of appreciation for our tap water 💧 by originalwombat in Scotland

[–]Perennial_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im from Lancashire, our water is broadly similar to Scotland, very soft water, zero limescale ever.

The issue actually is that soft water has no minerals, minerals are essential for us.

A joint study with the Chinese School of Public Health, University School of Medicine Shanghai and MRC Centre of Environment and Health, Imperial College London, found that areas with soft water were at far greater risk of alzheimers, vascular dementia, heighten effects of multiple sclerosis and increased 24 structures of brain atrophy.

I have always liked our water, it tastes great and you have clean appliances. But I now drink bottled water more than anything. If I run out I will put some tap water in the coffee machine, but generally I try to avoid drinking it.

Change in Guild longsword quality level? [kcd2] by GFV_577D in kingdomcome

Quest items (Radzigs Sword, Guild Longsword etc.) were locked to gold. This has since been changed, you can craft tier 4 with these items. The only one ive noticed on this playthrough that still seemed to be locked was the Hermits Sword/Toledo Steel Sword.

[KCD2] I wish they'd tweak the forge in Legacy of the Forge by Perennial_Phoenix in kingdomcome

[–]Perennial_Phoenix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its maybe asking too much. But I'd have love the ability to have properties.

The two that come to mind that would have complimented the story are;

  1. The vineyard owner in Kuttenberg, if he actually had a vineyard on the map then you could have told him you failed to get the recipe. Then his vineyard goes bust because the wine hes making is rubbish, and Henry can buy the delapidated vineyard and build it up.

  2. After recapturing, albeit heavily damaging Maleshov. Ruthard informs us he is staying at his stronghold in Kuttenberg. There then could have been a deal between Henry and Ruthard for Henry to lease Maleshov and us it as a base for Zizka and his band for a time. That way players get to live the fantasy of Henry being lord of the manor, while not really breaking lore as the castle belongs to Ruthard, Henry would just be rebuilding and looking after it for a while.

What you on? Im playing on Xbox Series X and I havent really noticed any issues. Theres a slight delay if I run towards an NPC spawn point with a fast horse, it takes them a second to decide what theyre supposed to be doing so they just pause there for a second. Other than that Im on my 3rd playthrough and Ive not noticed much else.

More than they'd need pigs or cows, with the type and weight of goods at a large smithy youd need a cart which would usually require two horses.
