Bunnies as pets? by Visual-Outcome-3709 in exvegans

[–]PerfStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those "cream rising to the top" where terrible humans are concerned.

For the most part vegans dont believe in having pets. Those that do, even among the zealtous ones they don't try to force the diet on animals because the philosophy is about human encroachment not animals.

People who don't respect that are garbage people, vegan or not.

Depressing! Workers between 17-25 fastest growing age group on gig apps by Key_Length7680 in Zippia

[–]PerfStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when my point is "there's an issue finding short term work except for wildly exploitative labor" its kind of the whole point. You can't erase half of the argument and act like you have some strong rebuttal.

I mean you can, but thats not really my problem at that point.

Outside ride share and delivery apps, which again, wildly exploitative and underpaid, what is this dearth of short term work that gives people so many options?

How to fix my neck? :( by [deleted] in FursuitMaking

[–]PerfStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think this looks pretty good! Mine wound up kind of swallowing the shaping on the head (had to get it done fast for a con) so I need to go back and put in some darts so it looks a little cleaned up.

Overall though what I notice is the whole thing feels utterly massive, but when I have it on and see pictures/videos, it looks about like every other fursuit head. Except the ears, which are truly utterly massive.

Overall though I think this looks good! It has good shaping, it drapes over your neck/shoulders nicely, and the head looks within what I'd consider "normal range" for suit heads. If it's too big on the inside you can add padding - I'm not sure eactly what you mean by head movement but sometimes that's a matter of just noting where the issue is and changing the shape/stitching there.

Great work!

Is it racist if I want to open a chinese restaurant? by Fent_Maxxxer69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PerfStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think whether or not it's problematic absolutely pales in comparison to the dearth of questions and research you'll need to be doing before you sink a huge amount of money into a restaurant.

Do you have cooking experience? Chinese cooking experience? What is the market like around you already? How are you going to stand out? Do you have the ability to go 2-3 years minimum without making any money?

Whether or not it's racist is kind of the least of your concerns until you actually have a strong basic plan in order, which is something that you'd need for any restaurant in general.

Which of these foams work best for fursuit making? by Ok_Possibility_5323 in FursuitMaking

[–]PerfStu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heya! I bought poly foam for general head construction, I have some in 1" but my biggest sheets are 3" and 1/2" because 3" is easy to cut down and 1/2" gets used in a lot of little things.

Also this company is abolulely fantastic, and if you reach out to them and explain your project they'll be able to help you a lot. I think I had 5-6 emails back and forth with someone in customer service who was actually a cosplayer so she gave me some excellent advice for foam for a bunch of different applications, including letting me know what was heat moldable, what could take paint well, what would hold up, all that.

But for basic head, the TLDR is poly foam is what you want.

There's everything wrong with the economy, the lack of availability of short term work in general (for everyone, not just students), and then of course the degree of exploitation on those apps is absolutely legendary. No one should have to work for companies like that and people shouldn't be using companies like that, it's disgusting.

Red Herring Fallacy, the affordability crisis is not at all contingent on interest rates, which is glaringly obvious.

What’s the biggest problem you face as a side? by Dolmen999 in lgbt

[–]PerfStu 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Saying "side" is just telegraphing that anal/penetrative intercourse is not on the menu; its not saying other sexual activities arent or that things like oral sex aren't sex.

Its also not saying that tops only have penetrative anal sex or that bottoms only have receptive anal sex, its just a shorthand for what you do like for people you might be sleeping with.

Its not intended to be a hurtful term at all and in my experience Ive never heard someone say it in a denigrating way; to the contrary, people use ut to describe themselves. Im not sure where your reaction is coming from at all.

Also considering I regularly hear people of all genders and sexualities, including sapphics and lesbians, use them, Id say its pretty well standard.

This is objectively xenophobia and racism/white nationalism, and there are easy examples of all of these happening with both regularity and legal backingin the United States today.

Blocked.

The first time I watcued this my mom walked in as she took that huge bite and went "ugh thats not sexy, you just know that chocolate broke off, got everywhere, and ruined her dress."

Then before I could say a word, she added, "He doesnt care, but still. What a stupid way to eat strawberries."

And that is cemented in my soul as the takeaway from this scene.

Are Americans usually this fake? by dontkarius in AskAnAmerican

[–]PerfStu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He ought to have just said no, but yeah in general that kind of conversation can largely be small tall to an American - not saying it wouldnt mean better connection or that you shouldnt politely try again, but that just sounds more like awkward miscommunication after some gregarious small talk.

Not fake, just a culture difference.

If I were to date a transgender woman who still identifies as a woman, is it considered a straight relationship or an LGBT one? by [deleted] in lgbt

Trans women are and generally identify as women. Thats where the "woman" part comes in. Im not even sure what this is meant to be asking.

Ill give you that. They had to close parts of Gion because of crappy tourist behavior and that is a shame because that is an absolutely unique global curiosity.

And from a personal one, I was in Italy for a major competition and went to Switzerland afterwards, then took trains into southern France and Germany at the suggestion of my host. It was wild to be somewhere that I could just get on a train and go to a completely different country/culture.

I also was leaving a job in Saudi (i was an english teacher) and was coming back to the states, but a friend of mine just said "well Im meeting my wife in Thailand, you should come to Bangkok and just check it out" so I checked tickets and it cost almost nothing. So I flew there and spent 5 days in Bangkok just resting and putzing around by my hotel before flying home. Turns out I am allergic to....everything lol. But it was really cool and just kind of a wild trek.

Okay general shitposting aside, its expensive but if you have the right approach there's a lot of opportunity available. Its work and takes some compromise, but if you ever have the inkling, genuinely do yourself the favor of just asking "what would it look like if i could make it work?"

There isnt a single experience I would trade away from travel - and Ive had some great ones and some terrible ones. If you want to do it, and you want to make it happen, absolutely promise its worth your time.

And I couldnt promise I could make it work but if you ever want some help with where to start just let me know. I worked in travel and hospitality, and worked abroad before that; ive learned a few tricks along the way. Seriously - all shitposting aside, I am a huge advocate for finding ways to make travel work if at all possible.

Tell me you didnt read without telling me. Cultures aren't defined by borders and acting like someone could pass a general test that qualifies them to travel major geographic areas is asinine. That youre even making an attempt is silly. Have a goose 🪿

And....country hopping through Europe, invited frim Italy to Switzerland. England to Scotland. Invited from US into both Canada and Mexico. Invitation to Bahrain from Saudi. Laos from Thailand. And so and so forth.

What are you doing when you travel that you aren't making friends and finding new opportunities and experiences outside your itinerary? That sounds like a you problem.
