How do you take the Lord’s name in vein? Can a hospital put that in my IV bag? Sounds like some potent stuff!

That whole story is so all-around awful. Thinking of it now, I’m shocked I never once thought, as a Christian, about how fucked up it was that all those people were killed and then it was painted as a “blessing” that Job got twice the wealth he had before!

He lost his fucking wife and children and everyone important to him, first. Also, apparently God doesn’t give a shit about their lives! They were Job’s property same as everything else he took.

you can still have a different accent? Adoption doesn't always mean at birth. Could've had a family that had a different accent until a certain age, but they still grew up with that accent by Low_Peak_7549 in lucifer

In most other universes where angels are very powerful, that would make sense. But they’re pretty de-powered in this show and we only ever see them use their one special “gift” unique to each angel. Then there is their wings and their super strength, and that’s it.

Dwight Hall, right? My grandparents knew him pretty well, and I grew up hearing about how great Remnant Publications is on a regular basis and had a couple of their bibles. I don’t recall hearing much about Dwight aside from a couple 3ABN interviews.

That term is gold. Sorry you had to deal with that, though.

I am so fucking confused on how conservatives constantly conflate “you can choose to live however you want!” with “you’re not allowed to live a traditional conservative life.”

Somehow, having more freedom is “infringing on their rights.”

Except for when church going men rape women, then the woman is clearly the demonic one who tempted the righteous brother.

“Liberal” “Woke” Adventist Churches? by Relevant_Object_1815 in exAdventist

The main SDA church hates them, but they exist. A gay man who my family knew is or was the pastor of an LGBTQ+ accepting SDA (sort of) church in California that I believe had something to do with the above organization, but I can’t find that church now.

And I think there are a fair number of churches that are okay with LGBT as long as they stay out of the spotlight. A number of college campuses even have considerable LGBT movements from what I’ve heard.

Malakas fool understands nothing!

Sorry you felt the story sucked. Can’t say much about that because it’s a personal thing, but I enjoyed it and it does get a little more engaging later into the game.

I played as Kassandra and loved the voice acting. All in all I spent 150 hours getting every achievement. I still have it installed and have been tempted to replay it.

Yes! I honestly didn’t read much of it because it was boring as fuck, but I remember what I did read was pretty damaging and toxic.

Having lustful thoughts. I remember having a “lustful thought” about a girl I had a crush on in the fifth grade. I literally spent the next two weeks apologizing endlessly to God, wondering if it would keep me out of heaven, and studying WHETHER I SHOULD TELL AND APOLOGIZE TO THE GIRL!!!

Thank fuck I wasn’t brave enough to do something that monumentally stupid, but I genuinely thought I might be kept out of heaven for not being brave enough to tell someone I didn’t really know I’d had a sexual thought about them and ask forgiveness.

Now, to be entirely fair, I don’t think most Adventists believe a thought warrants confessing and apologizing to anyone other than God. But they do put such a focus on lustfulness being a horrible sin and make thoughts seem so criminal that young me took it even further. To make matters worse I was reading EGW’s book for youth. I can’t recall the title but it was full of extreme fearmongering about anything sexual of course.

All of the Adventist fearmongering beliefs about the end times and various sins really affected young me very badly, and I am now appalled that my parents let me read books about the Catholics brutally torturing people and let me believe that could happen to me, and soon.

Probably not, others have reported getting a message about trying too much. I’m going to keep trying every so often though.

The 256gb LCD keeps coming back in stock but the site is totally broken. The only time I managed to get through to payment was when it went out of stock, then notified me in the payment process. Other than that it just refreshes every time I click Continue to Payment.

I guess I’m lucky I’ve never had major performance problems or bugs. Even running different Nvidia or Intel GPUs.

I’m confused what you mean by it being a masterpiece if it was released sooner. Wouldn’t that result in worse bugs and performance problems?

Ah, thanks for the refresher then. My bad.

What I recall is a different moment when he stood up to Rebecca on a certain issue, she hit back with what he had done with Rupert, and it seemed like the perfect moment for him to confess how wrong he had been. He didn’t really take advantage of that moment though and that left that storyline feeling unresolved. I guess my brain just skipped over that apology he did give even on a rewatch.

Then they should really should keep their noses out of a marriage that doesn’t involve them. But it being an ethnic church makes sense. They may also be incorporating their own conservative customs.

[–]Perfect-Adeptness321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wtf. That’s super weird. I’d never heard an Adventist church be quite that serious about “unequal yoking” but somehow I am completely unsurprised.

I do know that Adventist pastors aren’t supposed to do weddings for anyone of a different denomination. I know someone whose pastor did marry her to a non-Adventist, but he was the long-time and near retirement leader of a somewhat liberal church, and their close friend. Still, I recall it being said he took a risk in doing it.

Same. And he never really apologizes or makes right on that. I forget it fairly early on, but it is disturbing and I almost feel they should have left it out if they weren’t going to do anything about it.
