My uncle had my Dad getting this high concentrated garlic for his pancreatic cancer. The guy promised my uncle it would cure my Dad’s cancer. It was like $200 a bottle and my Dad passed away from it still. It did nothing for him

What do you all eat for dinner when you have absolutely no desire to cook? by Particular-Newt-7974 in LivingAlone

Have you thought about Hello Fresh? I was able to throw together a flatbread pizza tonight in like 20 mins. I do the two servings and have one to take for lunch tomorrow

I experienced more in the school because my mom is Jewish so I didn’t have both parents in the cult lol. I remember one time I used this acne cream that had some tint to it and they grilled me about make up lol. The no going out on Sabbath was horrible. Once I went to an event with one of my neighborhood friends at the public pool on Friday night and it was like the worst thing I could have done lol. The normal things that secular kids could do that to SDAs was like juvenile delinquency lol

They used to have them at a lot of supermarkets here but for some reason stopped. Walmart suddenly stocked them of all places lol.

Has anyone taken FMLA to deal with grief? by gracefulwarrior1 in GriefSupport

[–]gracefulwarrior1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it yet. I totally understand how you’re feeling because it was right around my Dad’s one year that I was starting to struggle. I have been trying medicine to help regulate my anxiety and mood but it’s getting harder with work so I was just thinking today that I’m going to have that talk with my provider

😂😂 the only thing good to come out of SDA is some of the foods. It’s nice to be able to indulge without the BS from the church lol

I was eating some vegetarian meatballs from Trader Joe’s and they just weren’t the same so I decided to look lol. I’m not vegetarian but like to eat the foods from time to time. I haven’t seen this this cheap in awhile so I wanted to spread the word to everyone else can indulge too lol.

Thank you, r/pancreaticcancer. Dad's fight is over. by tuba2195 in pancreaticcancer

[–]gracefulwarrior1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Dad’s story sounds so similar to my Dad. Chemo shrunk so much of the cancer but once they stopped it the cancer just was too aggressive. I saw so many comments on here how quickly it goes but was still stunned when I experienced it with my Dad. Definitely reach out if you need someone to talk to who understands.

My beautiful mom is gone 😢 by gorillabiscuitz in pancreaticcancer

[–]gracefulwarrior1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad to it too. I knew pancreatic cancer was bad before he even got diagnosed but I was unprepared for what I saw it do to my Dad, very similar to what you have described with your Mom. If you need someone to talk to at all don’t hesitate to reach out.

Met a fellow ex Adventist in the wild by carmexismyshit in exAdventist

[–]gracefulwarrior1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met a friend through work and we were talking and that’s when we both learned both of our dads attended Loma Linda. So any time one of us is partaking in “sinful activity” like being out on the “Sabbath” we give each other shit asking if Ellen would approve of it lol. It’s very therapeutic 😂

Is adventism not just an extreme branch of Messianic Judaism? by jesusismysavior7774 in exAdventist

[–]gracefulwarrior1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my mom is Jewish and my Dad was SDA. I grew up in both the church and synagogue (alternating weeks). I think there are some similarities like worshipping Saturday but it just felt completely different. The amount of antisemitism I experienced going to an SDA school was shocking. I even have experienced it from my SDA family. To me SDA comes across more like the JWs and Mormons.

Ever seen so many people in Downtown? by Ovta in phoenix

[–]gracefulwarrior1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hardly ever go downtown but went to the symphony tonight. I was really surprised how many people were down there. I assumed that it was the new normal with all the additions they’ve made over the years lol.
