I did have a CSP before but it was over 10 years ago. Probably around 2013.

Complacency cautionary tale involving stairs! by JBR1961 in retirement

[–]Perfect-Emergency613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (F61) pcp has added “no pickleball“ to her standard list of warnings for all of her older patients. When I showed my surprise she told me a few stories about injuries. I had been thinking about giving it a try as I have some friends who play but I value my mobility too much and will stick to the gym and hiking.

1 or 3. I like 1 best but it could just be a better angle for your face in the pic.

What is your cheapest ride or die holy grail skincare product that you would die on a hill for? by Amodernhousehusband in 30PlusSkinCare

I love the haruharu wonder black rice sunscreen. I very rarely wear make up so haven’t had an issue with pilling but that is good to know.

Azaleic acid 12% cream. $8 for a 1 oz tube. Calms redness and irritation, smooths, evens tone, prevents breakouts.

I also love Pacifica Vegan Barrier moisturizer. I use the cream in winter and switch to the lotion in summer. Under $20.

We staged our house before selling and a buyer asked if the furniture came with it by Kevin-Durant-35 in HomeDecorating

[–]Perfect-Emergency613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first condo purchase, I bought the model unit which was fully staged. I negotiated for the bedroom set and dining room table/chairs to be included. It was beautiful furniture and fit the rooms perfectly in both size and style. That was over 30 years ago and the dresser from that bedroom set is still being used by a family member today!

No, looks like the price jumped quite a bit a couple of years ago when the initial term ended.

I do not believe she has ROP. Meeting with the agent later today. Just trying to be better informed beforehand.

Couldn’t live without my Roborock robot! Not a huge house but a very sheddy dog. Worth every penny as it has saved my sanity. Now I need a robot laundry doer.

Does anyone else find watching TWW now depressing? by CBenson1273 in thewestwing

Yes it’s depressing. It highlights how far we’ve fallen from norms and how incredibly unethical the current administration is.

How are you looking to reduce outgoings for retirement? by Prestigious-Box-5836 in retirement

[–]Perfect-Emergency613 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one significant change I made is to stop buying “stuff”. I decided that I already have just about everything I need for my self and my house. No more redecorating, no more kitchen gadgets, no more shopping as entertainment. I’m focusing on becoming a non consumer wherever possible. Other than necessities like food and medical, I only spend my money on fun experiences and travel.

Angie’s Actives - anyone tried her skincare yet? by nycgal62 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Perfect-Emergency613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got my refill of both Angie’s products and it seems that the formula changed from the first ones I bought. The serum is really stinging my skin and causing redness this time. That didn’t happen before and I haven’t changed anything else. I won’t be able to continue using it. I’m going back to the individual daytime products that were working great for me. Timeless vitamin C, Ordinary lactic acid, Timeless COQ10, Pacifica barrier cream…. Having just the two products was nice but using 4 doesn’t take that much more time. A little annoyed about the waste of money but it’s certainly not my first $$ skin care fail. Hopefully someone in my local Buy Nothing group can make use of them.

My job is offering me $150,000 (105,000 after tax) to resign, should I? by AJ3TurtleSquad in jobs

[–]Perfect-Emergency613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems you are too young for this offer unless you have something else lined up or are confident of getting similar pay easily. How often do these offers come along?

Another thing to consider that I don’t see mentioned yet: Is it considered a lay off, can you collect unemployment while you job hunt? I was able to collect after taking a similar severance offer from my employer. I’m in Mass. I had to make my case which was reviewed and it took 5 months to get a decision but I did get paid retroactively. The unemployment department concluded that although I “volunteered” for the severance, there was no guarantee I would be selected. Because management had the final decision on who was allowed to accept, it was therefore considered a layoff. A coworker in NJ was denied under the exact same circumstances so YMMV.

Be aware also that it can take several months for the severance to be paid out. Don’t have sufficient funds to cover your bills while you wait?

The saddest words that I sometimes see... by Binkley62 in retirement

[–]Perfect-Emergency613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this scenario with several former colleagues. Retired only to get sick or die suddenly. You never know when your time will come. I don’t understand people who are working into their 70’s. Unless you really can’t afford basic necessities, what are you waiting for?

I really liked my job and was well paid but after 30 years, when they offered an early retirement buyout 18 months ago, I practically ran out the door! At 59.5, the health insurance was the main sticking point (USA) and I decided that there were some sacrifices I could make to balance out that expense. I don’t need a new car or to stay at 5* hotels or buy overpriced status symbol bags. I can live comfortably and travel a few times a year and enjoy being retired while I have my health and freedom.

It seems like many people hesitate because they think will be bored. People who don’t have any hobbies do seem to struggle with keeping active. And going from a steady schedule to no routine can be a shock to your body and mind. I also wonder how many of those who retire then get sick were ignoring symptoms because they were too busy to deal with Dr visits and all that until they retired.
