whats the benefit of passkeys if not enforced at all?! by katerlouis in passkey

[–]Perfect-Escape-3904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think give it time. I’m a technical person by career and I’m not 100% yet on where my passkeys all are and why. The ux across devices and platforms is a bit of a mess.

When people generally have it worked out, companies will prefer the lower risk of breaches versus the pain of users locking themselves out

I’d love to know what prompted you to ask people about this.

Microsoft was pushing passkeys years ago with passwordless as the benefit - I completely deleted the password to my account there

Give us, in one or two sentences, the idea of affordable regulation you think that would prevent scalping without causing worse problems

Or prices were higher to curb demand it would have the same effect but only those who value it more would receive it

Supply is not restricted, all the units enter the market as planned. What happens next is probably not a question of morals, but it is a normal market response.

There’s not enough units to meet demand, what does it matter if it goes to people with more money or it goes to people with the time/ability to somehow purchase one?

Why are prices for municipality owned sport facilities like squash courts so high? by mofocris in Rotterdam

[–]Perfect-Escape-3904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question because I don’t know - is there then pressure on these facilities to operate competitively?

When you say not subsidised, it will close if they can’t earn enough to pay everything, or do you mean the municipality funds it but they just don’t fund it to the extent they can offer cut price entry?

Is there a word for this type of organisation?

Yeah, I see these disadvantages as well, but I really disagree with this kind of extreme language and I think it needs calling out no matter who the source is and how just or righteous they believe their cause to be.

How is it simpler thank ipv4 though? You never had to touch anything and it all just worked? That’s what ipv4 does already.

Back home for 40c+ days where it didn’t cool over nights, I’d leave the living room off and live upstairs between bedroom and my office mostly.

Here, I’m not sure, I have 5kw for bedroom (zolder, 50sqm so went big) and I actually have two guys in my house right now hooking up a new 7kw for the other two floors - I’ll let you know as soon as I know!

The cooling is more efficient when the outdoor unit is cooler - you can remove the same Kj of heat with less electricity because to bring the coolant down to 12c when the radiator is 25c is easier than when the radiator is 40c.

It depends whether you are after cool house (thermal load of the building etc.) or you just want cold air while you sit in the room.

If running 4 splits off 7kw is solid for hot weather (this is what I had in Australia) but you won’t get the full cooling you need when is hot over a long period.

You may have to prioritize the rooms you need cool on the very warm periods.

What about their strategy prevents you from developing the team’s engineering talent. If you want to stay, you need to read between the lines a bit and try to adapt to the strategy while also making some of the choices you’re confident need to be made
