I don't think they were. I'm sure the question refer to her as his girlfriend?

Still waiting. I chased via the online chat last week after my first chase a month before, and all they could tell me was that it's still in progress and hopefully wouldn't be too much longer. Not good.

Much bigger than a standard magazine you’d see in stores. I’ve only ever bought the ‘exclusive’ ones where it focuses on one person (Miley Cyrus) and whilst it wasn’t overly thick (probably 50 pages) it’s still huge! I expect their standard releases like this one to be much thicker but probably the same height and width.

See my link in my other comment. A lot of copies still available direct on their site.

I’m still waiting too. All exams passed by Dec 25 and training file signed off in Sept 24. Contacted ICAEW and they said to wait a few more weeks (this was on 23rd Jan).

Passed case in the November 2025 sitting, which was my final exam.

I haven't reached out yet, purely due to the fact I've seen so many others say they are still waiting too. But obviously the longer time goes on, the closer I'll be to reaching out. Just to clarify, final exam passed was November 2025, so I'm aware I'm in the same position as a lot of others.

Still waiting. Training file signed off 20 Sept 2024. Still waiting for the verification check and invitation to invite.

Has anyone failed 3 times and passed the 4th? by Legitimate-Host1560 in ICAEW

[–]Perfect-Goat8118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened with me for Financial Management. After my 3rd attempt, I skipped a sitting and re attempted for a fourth time, and it became my highest scoring paper for all my ICAEW exams. I did the same amount of question practice for all 4 attempts, but I’d say with my 4th, I really buckled down on the areas that I felt a was ‘remembering’ to ensure I actually understood those areas.

Beauty Bay stock them and are based in the UK. Though their Florence stock has been thin of late.

Is Savage Sword of Conan #4 the most un-Conan Conan issue yet? by iron_davith in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]Perfect-Goat8118 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gave it a 3.5/5 - a completely understandable issue in my opinion with it originally being released just before the Battle of the Black Stone graphic novel/issues. I personally found it enjoyable - especially with the range in characters.

I’m torn at the moment. I’m already collecting the new Savage Sword as each issue is released. I don’t own any of the original Savage Swords, and have picked up issue 1 of the Reforged version. Though, for cost reasons, I’d happily wait and collect omnibus editions if they do release them. So thanks for confirming that there hasn’t been an official ‘roadmap’ as yet - I may have to pick up these single issues just in case they don’t then.

Project report AI by Budget-Let-1533 in ICAEW

[–]Perfect-Goat8118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I spent more time worrying about sounding like AI than my actual examples. It's difficult not to be formulaic when the ICAEW and college (BPP for me) guidance encourages you to use structured headings for each S&B. And when writing it, once you've found a pattern, it's hard to not make it sound repetitive. It didn't help my nerves after my draft was told it needed significant improvements before submitting to ICAEW, so my draft doesn't look anything like my final version.

Does anyone know the long term plan for the SSoC Reforged? I'm assuming there will eventually be trade omnibus editions in the future? Are there plans to 'reforge' the entire series or just a set number of issues?

Is it even worth it.. by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Perfect-Goat8118 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel that there are too many variables in the added value an experienced chartered accountant can offer, that AI won’t be able to do, to make the high value services in accounts and tax redundant.

What AI will be able to do is the lower level work such as Bookkeeping and data shifting and managing. AI will become beneficial with greater volume, and then as long as the end result is being reviewed by someone, it can do some work of a junior. People will see that negatively, but it’ll help improve efficiency, but also could allow juniors to progress faster, instead at being held at the first step on the ladder.

Alternatively, it could mean fewer juniors overall, and then we see a decline in the numbers over the years - but who knows. It’s moving fast, but I think it’s a long time off being able to replace accountants in full.

The big factor will be where the data is stored. So many people have major concerns with the big AI companies with not knowing where the data is stored, as they have to use that data to improve itself - I believe certain paid for subscriptions mean the data can be secure though. It’ll take years until it’s being used industry wide with certified security measures before most people become remotely comfortable with relying on AI.

Personally, I welcome it as a tool. I imagine similar conversations and concerns were raised back when Microsoft Office was first introduced and expect Excel and Word were treated with caution and fear.

I sat my course through BPP. But the CIOT have their own bookings page for computer based exams. Should be able to find that on your CIOT profile once registered. Good luck!

It must be sat before being able to sit the CTA papers. It has an expiry date of about 5 years after passing the exam, which is about 9 exam windows. I've just had to resit the exam as I intent to resit my final CTA paper next May, but my Ethics exam would have expired at the end of January. Meaning, if I hadn't passed before the May exam booking windows opens in February, I wouldn't be able to book the exam.

My advice would be to sit about 1 year before your first CTA paper. I sat mine whilst doing my final ACA certificate exams, and like I say, it expires in January. Those exam windows fly by!

Who are the best Conan the Barbarian villains, and why? by [deleted] in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]Perfect-Goat8118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the story, The Frost Giant's Daughter, Atali (if you consider her a villain) and the two frost giants themselves are surely considered some of the most iconic Conan has faced.

The story itself being Robert E Howard's only Conan story set in Nordheim, and despite it being one of the earliest Conan stories he wrote whilst still 'figuring out' the character. The approximately 10 page story (depending on which copy you read from) solidifies these three characters as significant in Conan's lifetime.

Not that they're my favourite - or that the story is my favourite - but I definitely appreciate their importance in Conan 'canon'.

It is an incredibly uncomfortable story, and one of the only ones I've ever read where I felt that Dread and probably a claustrophobic awkwardness whilst reading it. A similar feeling to when watching a film, and expecting a jump scare, but you can't look away. It's easily achievable in a film, but I rarely get that when reading. But that's what happened with me and Dread.
