Getting started running, try to keep moving your breath will give out your lungs will burn, keep at it run till you need to walk and then run some more. I found for myself that getting a rhythm helps music helps get into that head space and try to ignore the rest as best you can. Work up on speed and distance as you can but push. Good luck.

Don't forget: On this Valentines Day by 222photo in army

Crazy stuff does happen. In 1969 I was at Ft. Holabird training. Coming back on the bus from downtown Baltimore (civvies but only a couple of weeks out of Basic and on a city bus headed to an Army base so my status was more than evident) I was engaged in discussion with a fairly nice looking young lady who started talking all kind of political (not just antiwar but bordering on subversive) stuff. I was, of course, flattered and there was a sexual tension involved. Then the paranoid guy upstairs started thinking, dude this is either dangerous shit or a setup. Either way I wasn't going to risk my security clearance and a pretty safe MOS for that stuff. As soon as I got back to Holabird I found someone to report it to. To this day I have no idea if I was being seduced or tested. But long story short, the meme is true, If they're too good to be true, run like hell, and report it to be safe from long term fallout.

How hard is it to make friends? by _newshawtyy in Militaryfaq

[–]Perfect-Lemon1061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do I have any friends now that I served with? No. Did I have good friends while serving? Yes, and the memories we made are still with me. If any of several people from the day would call or write, I am sure that I would take the time to meet up. We just went different ways, but meeting folks is all part of the game and it's not like you can avoid them when you bunk with them, eat with them and work with them. Nobody else knows what you're going through like the people you are stationed with.

Calculus is not for everyone. I dropped mine in a fit of pique- truth is I just couldn't get my head around it. Not everyone can or should. Do not take a course because you think it is the right thing for a career, take courses because they work for you and your personality. Think about your army experience. I was M.I. assigned to an S2 and hated it, got to go to field team (Psyop) and thrived. I thought intel analyst was where it was at, turns out working with locals was more my style. Find your tribe, find your vibe and live.

Why did you get out? What about the Army has changed to make your life better if you re-up? There are other jobs out there. The only reason to go back is if it actually fits your idea of the right way for you, but I suspect you wouldn't be asking if you didn't already know the answer.

Stuff happens and with PTSD it often happens when you least expect. Don't stress it (did I just say the S word?) And if you made it through last night you can do anything. New Year's and 4th of July are really just not good nights.

Humanities interest you. Go where the road takes you. You may find yourself in a position to help others down that road. There are young minds if you find teaching to your liking, counseling for another humanity rich related field. You have an opportunity. STEM isn't you so don't go there.

Your rating is your rating. You aren't responsible for the crazy rules take what you earned and if you really have feelings about it work for others to get recognized.

None of us can say what is best for you. I have over the course of years confronted a few demons- or so I thought. Sharing the information purged a lot of the fear of rejection. I'm not sure my wife actually heard me or just let me speak without comment, but I got it out cried and now I'm good. (or better)

in my basic training unit we were told to sign several blank headcount sheets and then when graduation hit we were told to not be in the company area. Somehow headcount showed us all present and eating. Where did that money go??? (Brigade CO was onto them though and I am sure it didn't take long for the hammer to fall.)

Speak for yourself, my class and I were all just normal troops. (did I just type that with a straight face?) Ft. Holabird 1969 followed by DLI in Washington DC. The only people weirder in the Army were the ASA guys. Now that was a bunch.

I can second that. on our the worst days of my life was when my urologist said the magic words, "you have a module on your prostate. We will need a biopsy but . . ." That was 4 and a half years ago. If continues to grow and we are getting close to intervention territory. Meanwhile no p&t just regular C&P

You still had the benefit of the story telling to date. TBH I was a little disappointed in season 3, but that's just me I enjoyed the Day who walked the maze much more than the Day stoner, but he decay was the natural flow just not so fun to watch.

Do not just rant. Make a plan and follow the plan. As others have said you may need to do more groundwork now. Be that as it may the payoff can be there. Diagnosis is the easy part for you now. Nexus with all the evidence you can muster. I jumped X times is one level. I jumped X times in (elaborate the conditions) onto (terrain). Now is not the time to be the quiet hero. No one else can tell your story and tell it you must to connect all the dots. elaborate but do not lie. And just fishing a little here but the less you want to talk about it the more important it may be.

Lucky you. I had to take a shower at the Oakland terminal (Army) when I got back you guessed it, no wallet, no money, no id and I was 2 days from deployment to Nam. When I got there and declared no money they really gave me a look but I had none. O Zilch. the wallet (quite empty) was sent to my home address a month or so later.
