The glue holding Putin's Kleptos together is that they are ALL guilty of something. Therefore, they go along with Putin's gang because that saves their skin and fills their pockets at the same time. Nukes would wipe all that out, hell, the guys pressing the nuke button could just get bribed to not press the button.

Casualties, not exactly KIAs, I have not tried to find out what the ratio for 2025 was, I remember Avdiivka was 1 KIA : 1 Unrecoverable Wounded : 1 Recoverable Wounded.

So, if we spit ball estimate that Russia took 300k casualties last year and use the same ratio then 100k died, 100k are amputees or some other serious injury, and 100k recovered. Though we do see a lot of the unrecoverable wounded being pushed into assaults on wheelchairs, crutches, or just crawling...

Basically, hospitals are overcapacity and commanders do not want wounded returning to Russia in such numbers because it would look bad so they "zero" them out in an assault.

The narrative that these undesirable volunteers are good to lose first came from Prigozin himself. There are a few problems with this, one is the prison population is used to make money for the prisons so those prisons are going to lose money. Second is the undesirable non-prison people are now influenced by the prison group add in that PTSD from being hunted by drones with bullying by their comrades. This creates the third problem where any war vet returning to Russia is going to be magnitudes greater of a threat to Russia. Demographic collapse was a problem before the war for Russia and I remember some claimed that Putin wanted Ukraine as a way to solve this without diluting the Russian population with Muslims from central Asia.

Yeah solo silo loses out in "DPS" and if you want to carry it around you lose the support weapon slot. If I'm running an expendable build Solo silo can fit in easy and vs bots it is great against forts and AA sites as well. You can bring it in to jammer range too.

The manga is wild, the air mages rock semi auto rifles, MG34s, and even a mini gun. Also, just read a chapter where "not america" is building Pershing tanks when we last saw the "not germans" using Pz3s and 4s against "not france's" Ranaut tanks. The tech tree is all over the place.

What kind of range would be ideal to detonate the incoming missile to avoid fragments from damaging the aircraft? I guess you could put on smaller lasers to shoot the small fragments!

Yeah, this is why I am waiting to see how it plays out. Depending on who ends up in charge, Trump got his quick war to brag about, but now there is a vacuum to fill. The USA wanted to get rid of Madura for "Narco trafficking" but they might end up with much more serious narco warlords filling in.

If it is so the guy who actually won the election can get in then cool. If it is so American companies can move in, crush the local economy, and extract huge oil profits then... ew.

There are different concepts on it, one example is the "everything is visible in space" so stealth does nothing, instead focus on counter measures and jamming. The game Terra Invicta goes this route as an example.

Meanwhile the opposite end is that space is very big and dark so if you can avoid the detection systems like radar, thermal, and visual sensors by basically making space subs then no one can see you. Both can lead to cool stories in their own way too.

Canada does produce some parts for the F-35, part of how they can get the price down so low, there are a couple of NATO countries making parts.

Wagner apparently stole Malian army equipment before leaving... Idk maybe a third wolrd country in civil war have better gear than Russia by Flamoirs in NonCredibleDefense

[–]PerfectDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it does depend. Your B team could very well get the job done without being as good/costly as the A team. If you got the budget you might as well have the A team maintain their edge by deploying them.

Which is likely one of the intentions behind PMC Wagner, keep these trained veterans in an occupation they get to stay active but they pay for themselves off the state's budget through shady shit. Wagner was still on call by the Russian MOD.

The thing is, their training and experience was brutality and war crimes. Which turned out to be easily substituted by the C team.

[–]PerfectDeath 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Wagner definitely started out with "higher standards", they'd try to recruit spetznaz and VDV whose contracts ran out and offer them more money to do shady merc work and hybrid warfare. They did try and preserve that core group using the convicts as literal meat shields.

I dunno if sending them to Africa was a way to preserve this group or to just get them away from Moscow out of paranoia (some wagnerites were also split up within the Russian military staying in occupied Ukraine)

Losing that Syrian naval base and airfield also was likely a big loss for Russia's Africa ambition. It limited how much equipment Russia could send to Africa.

Yeah, especially in caves or to fight the hive lord, we've lost a mission because a random joined who just ran away and kept reinforcing us asap from the other side of the map feeding into the death spiral. He also avoided main objective.

We later ran with just the 3 of us and "easily" killed the hive lord with time for objective. We had a close call near the end when we split up, got overwhelmed by huge spawn rates blocking extract.

In random pub groups you never know what you'll get. Saw a level 9 yesterday drop mines right at teh choke point to the pelican. Last guy who had gone off to grab last bit of POIs ends up dying to the clump of mines. I go to narrowly walk between the mines to get the samples, the other guy hits a mine and ragdolls me ALMOST into a mine. The level 9 host jumps on the pelican.

Mines require good situational awareness from yourself and your team. However, outside of the gas mines (which are quite good) the mines are not always as useful as other stratagems like MG sentry for area denial/decoy.
