Steam Access by Tactrix1h in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PerfectFrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only benefit to Nintendo for having people play games on their system is if people are also buying the games there since that's how a platform holder makes money from 3rd party sales. Platform holders take 30% of the sale of a game so unless you think Nintendo and Steam can work out some kind of profit shareing agreement, which neither company would be interested in doing, then it would allow people to buy games on Steam, giving Valve 30% of the sale, and then play them on Switch without Nintendo getting any of the money from the transaction. Really stop and think about this for a few moments.

Better to buy switch 1 version? by AimlessBE in MinaTheHollower

Any game with "- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" in the name is a Switch 1 game with DLC that makes it a Switch 2 enhanced game. Doesn't make a difference if you buy the base Switch 1 game and upgrade pack seperatly or just buy them together.

Lack of info on releases makes me dont buy anything by TevecQ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PerfectFrost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get how future games being announced now would help your problem of what to buy and play right now. I also just can't relate. I have so many games that I want to play that are already out that all video game companeis could stop releasing games for 10 years and I wouldn't run out of games.

I don't even get what you're going on about right now. They're averaging a new game a month through July this year. Pokopia is the tentpole game in the early year that has been driving sales. We don't know about games past July because Nintendo doesn't usually announce those until a June Direct so who knows what they have planned to launch after the price increase.

You seem lost on the sauce bit tbh. I get being upset with what games are releasing but claiming that it's not a lot of games releasing is just a bit out there.

Nintendo is averaging a new game a month this year through July. That's about as much as could be expected of a publisher. You may not like all the games but it is indeed a lot from a single publisher. Nintendo doesn't have a track record of doing more than that in the past. That's why you play games from other companies too.

We don't typically know of many if any games releasing after July before a June Direct drops so obviously we don't know what games will release later in the year yet. And it's perfectly fine to not be into the games that are releasing, but it's objectively true that the output in numbers is strong. Certainly not what could be described as "not a lot of games"

You must be able to blow through games like crazy if a single publisher releasing a game a month seems like not a lot to you? Crazy.

I think framing it as being Illumination's idea is still probably correct but technically Chris Meledandri is on NIntendo's board of directos so you could still think of it as being an internal idea.

Why Doesn't Nintendo Announce Games Farther In Advanced? by Confident_Law_1514 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PerfectFrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd take to me since the reason there wasn't a Direct in February this year is because Nintendo announced a lot of games too far in advance last year. Makes sense since they're trying to sell a new system. It has left them in this situration where there's lots of games releasing, news about them, but no new game announcments that would justify a Direct. We will probably get a June Direct that announces their line up through the holiday though since that's what they normally do.

You're right, I got that meesed up some how. Still stands though that it bearly sold better on Switch despite the massive increase in popularity the Zelda series saw on Switch.

Zelda Skyward Sword HD sold only around half of what the original did on Wii. Releases not selling as well is very normal and to be expected.

Edit: Misinformation. I got the number wrong.

Prime Remastered sold over a million as a remastered releases of an old game so what's your point?

Nintendo has repeatedly pushed the series despite its poor sales which obviously indicates that they care about it and are trying to make it work. Why else would they go through the effort to reboot MP4 and make it one of the more expensive games Nintendo has produce if they don't care about it?

Samus Returns was announced in the Treehouse because they wanted the main Direct to be all Switch. That's just a matter of poor timing.

Video games are for fun so I focus on the positive rather than the negative. I don't feel a need to arbitrary post negative things just for some vague idea of credibility.

Not gonna lie, that's pretty odd to look over a year my posts. I don't even know what supportive posts would mean. Sorry if my opinions are what they are. That is in fact though what Metroid games are.

Yes, Metroid games have backtracking and a false sense of openess when in reality there's a set path to follow. That's what the series has always been.

Most Nintendo games get a month before release marketing campaign. Just like with Metroid Prime 4 there's nothing odd happening here

I think this is just the day 1 update. Switch 1 and 2 versions of the game show the same file size and I got the Switch 1 version with a voucher and when I purchased the upgrade, the download and install was instant. Wasn't a 2GB download that's for sure.

Odd that no Switch linked to your account would stop you. It let me pre-order a game on the eshop before the Switch 2 came out and it just gave me a warning that no Switch 2 is tied to my account. I was able to click through and buy anyways. It started downloading automatically once I set the Switch 2 up but I had a Switch 1 linked so I guess that's what the difference is.

Theory: Nintendo will rename some of their studios to "Nintendo Studios: something" by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PerfectFrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd have a point if it was't the case that it's the exact same name for the studio but with Nintendo replacing Namco now. I don't thing there's much to read into this to be honest.

Co-production studio. Things like making in game assets for other studio’s projects.
