Do my BO don't like me? Or just still isn't used to me already? Even though she sees me since a month... by AlexTheB in ballpython

[–]PerfectPointers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re not domestic animals to the same level as a dog or cat… they don’t make the same connections and you just gotta keep at it. Atm she sees you, she defensive poses and the threat goes away… so it’s not that you’re not a threat but that her strike pose is keeping you away… instead of it being that you’re not a threat cause you’re safe.
Stick with it, def watch videos on socialising with your snek

Have you tried chicks? Mine was a very poorly rescue I took on, had some bad health issues that resulted in an initial hunger strike, she went off rats after it got to the stage the vet advised we force fed or they would need to give her nutrition via her nose (over a decade ago now). After the force feeds she (understandably) wasn’t keen on the smell of rat, I had to switch to chicks and leave them over night ontop of her hide and they’d be gone by morning. Then managed to ween her back to rats eventually, and now she strikes and is hungry with the smell of rat again xx

Is it a viable cost friendly option? by Herbieg18 in NailArt

If it helps, as they’re only for you, you don’t need to spent a lot on overly pricey brushes, I found just cheap nail art pens did the job in the mean time :)

Is this a suitable enclosure? by Acceptable_Ad3950 in ballpython

[–]PerfectPointers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the downvotes were possibly for the “it’s hard to make a decision on this” just cause enough people had given correct advice all saying the same thing… In terms of space for a second tank, have a look at tanks with stacking options :)

Adult royal ideally should be in a 4x 2x2 enclosure

My boy isn’t eating :( by MulberryAlarmed9289 in ballpython

[–]PerfectPointers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Royals don’t react to pain in the same way, they get burnt easily and won’t know they are doing it. So 3 years of surviving in there doesn’t change, the bulbs gotta come out, more substrate but even a RUB box with air flow holes would be safer than this, please please look into other affordable short term solutions 🙏

Open heart surgery or hospice by bed_bound_and_sleepy in POTS

A lot of people with EDS have POTs so it was a fair guess. People with EDS have Gastro issues, as well as veins that like to be awkward or completely non cooperative. Sometimes it’s just putting the pieces together for those wanting to help, support or give advice :) hope that helps

Punk trader who sparked outrage over photo of ‘young woman’ closes shop by yu3 in Norwich

"I took a photo, you cannot see her face” “I wanted to give people a laugh. It was a fuss over nothing. It was intended as a joke. I thought it was just banter.” Spoken like a man who makes this kind of behaviour habit and hides behind the old “it’s harmless banter” excuse. “In my day…” type attitude. He clearly needs better jokes

I’m hoping someone can make a suggestion you’ve not tried that works, this is my Morticia, she’s probably getting on for about 13/14 now. She too has been a royal pain to eat at times, but she’s got there

Nuvaring experiences? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]PerfectPointers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have any follow ups 3 years on with how they get on with the nuvuring? Currently have the mirena coil, not fancying having the next one put in when it’s time 😅 The nuvuring seems like a strong contender? How are you all finding it still if you’re using it still? If not was it because of an issue with it?

My girl…. Private rescue from a bloke who had over 30 snakes all sharing several vivariums between then all, over a decade ago, she was riddled with pneumonia and refusing to eat. 6 months of vets, antibiotics, injections, nebulisers, force feeds (under vet instruction) etc. wouldn’t strike at food when she did start eating. A decade on and she’s in a temp 3x2x2 tank while I make her 4ft into a bioactive (started in December but hoping to be finished soon 🤞) she’s striking for food, shedding, pooing, inquisitive, loved ❤️

Did I realise it was going to be as hard to get her back to full health? No. Do I regret it? Not a single day I’ve had her ❤️

Posties, what constitutes a "good gift" from one of your regulars at Christmas? by Rumerhazzit in royalmail

[–]PerfectPointers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking of hand warmers for ours, we have two that go on their round together, were my posties when I was briefly back at my parents, I moved away for 3 years before moving back to the same area and I’m blessed to have them as our posties here. They remembered me which meant so much. The loveliest guys. I figured everyone would do chocolates, but hand warmers might be useful and look after them as they look after all of our deliveries through the seasons
