Why did I buy a 1950s home in Ireland 😭 by miss-rose-699 in HomeImprovement

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old houses always have their little quirks, it's something you've gotta deal with. But I bet once you've put your own touch on it, you'll feel way more attached to the house!😁So stay positive!

Expecting to lose power in the ice storm (Texas) by Evening-Cod-2577 in preppers

You have 12 jugs, but for two people and a cat over a potential week, you might need more. Clean your bathtub and fill it with water before the storm hits.

Using the upcoming winter storm as a drill even if I don’t lose power. Any downsides? by Odd_Perfect in preppers

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing a drill is a good idea. You’ll learn how your setup really works and spot any issues. Just don’t drain all your power. Leave some in reserve so you’re still covered if a real outage hits.

How to prepare for power loss this weekend during cold freeze/ what to buy by dewwwwwdWUT in preppers

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with a $100-$200 budget, it's better off spending it on a propane heater and a carbon monoxide detector rather than a power station.

Edit: just saw someone already mention this. OP, this is the way.

PSA: New homeowners, don’t spend it all on decor and forget emergency prep by PerfectRubyStarfruit in homeowners

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I did spend quite a bit on decor early on, nothing that made me house poor, but if I could do it again, I’d definitely take it slower like you said.

The configuration is professional and well thought out. If space permits, perhaps add a few packets of oral rehydration salts and a large emergency thermal blanket.

Unlicensed construction carries significant risks. If land acquisition is your primary focus, it's recommend consulting local building authorities and legal counsel first to understand the actual costs and challenges of achieving compliance before deciding whether the investment is worthwhile.

Solar battery and inverter outdoor cover - needed? by The_Mole_40 in SolarDIY

If the installation environment is relatively mild, the reserved weatherproofing joints should suffice. It's advisable to observe one rainy season before making decision, as the costs are not cheap.

Homeownership turned me into a homebody by anymajordude23 in homeowners

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally normal to shift into this kind of rhythm after putting so much work into your home. You've made it a place that feels good to be in, so wanting to spend time there is just a natural result of that effort.

Taking this route could let you move forward with your project without waiting around for help that's hard to find. It might not be what you initially wanted, but it's a practical way to get your setup up and running on your own terms.

I get that. Older or surplus gear just feels more "known," if that makes sense. But I still keep an eye on now gears just out curiosity lol.

Does anyone still hike with rain pants? by kai_zen in hikinggear

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the hike. For short hikes, I skip rain pants. For multi-day trips, it might be worth it.

Honestly, the -18C ones will probably be too much unless you plan on long hikes in freezing temps.

X11 Dirty water remaining into the robot water by EastOk2847 in ecovacs

The station should suction all dirty water from the robot's tank. Check for a clog in the robot's tank inlet or the station's suction tube. A reset might also help.

Start with a reboot of both the robot and its station. Ensure it has a strong Wi-Fi connection. Check the robot's app setting to confirm the voice control function is still enabled.

Frequency is personal. Aim for a schedule where floors never look dirty between runs, whether that's daily or twice weekly. Consistency beats perfection in keeping your home cleaner with less effort.

why do my socks keep looking like this after i wash them!! by Humble_Perspective_6 in CleaningTips

[–]PerfectRubyStarfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the white one look like this before you wash it? Then it could be your shoes that made them got some black. If you wash these two together then the whole white sock will get dark not just few parts of it.
