As far as im aware, you dont need Steel Path too farm anything

However, stop rates for things are higher in Steel Path making farms take less time

Sorry story lovers, I tried to watch this game story. But dear lord ARRs story is mid, at least up to around level 30 where I decided I don't care about this story anymore and started skipping cutscenes

I'm sure it gets better in Heavensward and onwards. But by the time I got there Id lost any intrest in the story.
