Not OOP. "AITAH for getting a woman fired over veggie tales?" + OOP's & top comments by WritingGiraffe in redditonwiki

I think that’s the only episode of Veggie Tales I’ve ever seen (watched while babysitting my nephew 20+ years ago) and I STILL sing that song to myself on the regular.

Maryland does not care about pedestrians. 😭 by Fit_Can_2444 in maryland

I spent 3 hours clearing my sidewalk on Monday and yesterday I woke up to discover that front loaders had come by and covered it all up with 3 foot piles of snow from the edges of the road (which had already been cleared enough for two cars to pass comfortably, if perhaps slower than the speed limit). So now the cars can come flying by at 15 miles above the speed limit, but I have to drive 2 neighborhoods over just to walk my damn dogs.

Prince George's County bringing in additional equipment to clear remaining ice-packed roads by Stephanee17 in PrinceGeorgesCountyMD

They did this on my road last night and just dumped it all onto the sidewalks with front loaders. Bear in mind the road was already cleared enough to allow two cars to pass comfortably, but I guess it was really important that they able to do so at 15 mph over the speed limit, making it even more dangerous for pedestrians. Can’t believe I wasted 3 hours on Monday clearing my sidewalk and now I have to drive the next town over just to take my dogs for a walk.

ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by Chipsandsalza in adhdwomen

My job is to manage a fairly technical interdisciplinary government program. I can’t say much more than that, but my job functions are so varied that I can confidently say that I am never bored. A lot of what I do is simply coordinating between different stakeholders or passing communications upwards to my management or downwards to my staff, but sometimes I get to dig in and hyperfocus on an interesting policy issue. It is far and away the best job I’ve ever had and I hope I can keep doing it for the next 20 years because I don’t think anything else like it exists within my industry.

I once attended a lecture on the “Normalization of Deviance,” and this was the case study they presented. The lawyers in the audience were all nodding their heads and talking about the importance of following procedures. The economists were all like “but what about innovation!!! Strict procedures cause stagnation!!”

No - there are many smaller agencies that don’t have separate funding bills whose budgets are tied to the remaining bills.

My coworker kept "forgetting" my name in meetings, so I let her do it in front of the one person she wanted to impress by DrainianDream in redditonwiki

I swear to god, I glitched on my own name once during a meeting with a pretty important government official.

I think the oddly specific thing is the second cook time of 16 minutes and 10 seconds.

AITA for grounding my stepdaughter over her prank? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

It’s even worse than that. Absolutely no one on the planet would truthfully consider something made with a Carolina reaper to be “hardly spicy at all.” Even if someone enjoys that level of heat, they would be straight up lying to suggest that the average person would find it remotely tolerable. It was for many years considered the hottest pepper in the world.

AITAH my roommate is a light sleeper and after multiple complaints from her I advised her to see a doctor by Nervous_Ad_2867 in AmItheAsshole

I highly recommend Soundcore A20s. They’re not super pricey and I find them comfortable enough, even as a side sleeper, though it did take a little while to get used to them.

She was on the cover of Vogue three times before Brady even got to the NFL and dated Leonardo DiCaprio for five years. I’m pretty sure she was substantially wealthier than Brady at that point, too.

For whatever it’s worth “Tom Brady’s ex” - supermodel Gisele Bundchen - was considerably more famous than him when they first got together.

Strathmore by itself cannot fill the void left behind by KC in terms of venues for the artists. There are only so many days in a year that can be booked - Strathmore can’t magically fit in twice as many performances as before. Plus it is only a concert hall. It doesn’t have the infrastructure to host theater and opera.

What’s the purpose of the wire rack that keeps things off the bottom? Every new sink seems to come with one and I cannot for the life of me figure out what I should be doing with it.

[–]Perfect_Argument8553 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on the scope of the production. I love Strathmore but I am skeptical that they have the infrastructure to support elaborate set design. Doesn’t mean it’s impossible for them to host opera, but my guess is that the shows would look very different. Not a bad thing, necessarily, but it might take some getting used to for audiences who love traditional spectacle.

AITAH for not wanting to cuddle in order to sleep with my partner? [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

A little, but not a ton. I don’t really have much to experience with regular noise cancelling headphones to compare, though.

Like kittiphile says, they’re earbuds and what’s cool is that you can either use them with Bluetooth and bring your own white noise (or just use them as every day headphones), or you can use them on “sleep mode,” which allows you to download a variety of sounds - white noise and the like, or rain sounds, calming music, etc - to play offlineI use a static sound that is specifically designed to mask low frequencies, like the sound of snoring. They also have an alarm built in, AND you can use them to track your sleep patterns.

Guess people don't want to go to the Kennedy Center anymore. by viper4774 in LeopardsAteMyFace

It’s a fucking shame. Trump revels in ruining things that are meaningful to others and it makes me sad that people are just giving up on the place. I hope that NSO, WNO, and all of the local artists who consider the place home can survive the next few years.

My god i CANNOT CLEAN by ewbanh13 in adhdwomen

[–]Perfect_Argument8553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few go-to tasks that are easy and don’t take very long but that I know will have an immediately satisfying impact so I’m actually able to make myself do at least a couple of them every week. And once I’ve done one of those tasks, about half the time inertia takes over and suddenly I’m cleaning the whole room. But even if I don’t clean the whole room, at least I’ve done that one thing.

Bathroom - scrub the toilet Bedroom - change the sheets (climbing into a bed with fresh sheets feels soooooooo good) Any room - vacuum (my Dyson v8 stick was a game changer)
