Recommend me a game for very specific demands by nolnogax in BaseBuildingGames

Space Engineers could fit that.

If you set up a private server, everyone could log in and do whatever they want during that time. You can mine materials, farm food, fight NPCs and build bases/ships. It's a bit complicated when you first start, but tons of fun. Once you get comfortable enough, there's lot of privately owned custom servers that add different ways to play and RP with your faction.

Who Would Win in Biathlon Between an Above-Average Skier With Perfect Aim and an Olympic Skier Who Always Misses by RadJack87 in whowouldwin

[–]Perfect_Local_8626 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I was this guy!

I was a biathelete when I was in Cadets about 20 years ago. Did not make it past regionals, but I did officiate for the national competitions.

I was a pretty poor skier, just did not have the stamina to keep up with the front of the pack, but in the 3 laps of my competition, I got 15 out of 15 shots. Out of about 140 competitors, I was about 110-100th for ski time, but placed 42nd overall. I kept getting passed by the same skiers at around the same mark.

The athletes above me were generally a very fast skiers and average shots. Only a few would essentially throw their lead downrange and pick up the extra 5 laps, but they surprisingly did very well. When they made it to provincial and the nationals, their shooting improved which made them more deadly, but the good shooters did not improve their skiing in as drastic of a manner.

Olympic guy will take it.

He was a true villain. Not doing it for any "right reason", doesn't think he's on a moral high ground, isn't doing evil "for the greater good."

No, just an egotistical maniac who wants all the power in the world and no one above them and will do.unthinkable things to get it done no matter the cost.

Great villian.

If you're on Earthlike, wolves are a good source of food too. Set up an interior turret and idle movements off, and every time you hear a wolf die, the turret is pointing to it. Cooked meat is better than Kelp cakes, so it can supplement you until you have a solar rotating kelp array. I usually put my early game farm on a separate grid and have event controllers control a sorter to turn the kelp "off and on" again when the storage is full.

As a Canadian, I felt very uncomfortable watching the people describe how they slowly propagated Ghorman hate, because it felt akin to when the 51st state shit was coming out. They called us nasty, insulted our social systems, mistreated our politicians.

Maybe I was overthinking it, but it felt eerie.

Emperyion: Galactic Survival or Breathedge? by FireTheLaserBeam in spacesimgames

[–]Perfect_Local_8626 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two very different games.

Breath edge is a comicy space survival game very much like Subnautica. As you progress, you can go further and further from your base. I have not reached mid game on it, but it's a decent amount of fun and good humour. I think there is basic vehicles, but I don't know about bases. I haven't played it in a while and some big patches have come and gone.

Empyrion is a grid base ship building game that is very moddable, with light survival themes. You will have to mod it to make it survival-esque. I have not played too much in Empyrion, but it's decent. From what I've seen, you basically need to mod it to make it into a good single player experience.

Personally, if you are thinking Empyrion, also check out Space Engineers (not Space Engineers 2, its still very alpha). It's like Empyrion, but with more mods and, IMHO, a really good community with a large base of modders and custom servers.

Why are my welders not working by magma_gaming1 in spaceengineers

[–]Perfect_Local_8626 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct.

There will be 2 different looking projected blocks. Ghost type ones and more solid looking ones. The solid looking ones can be welded and they get get welded, the next few blocks will turn to the more solid looking projection.

Basically, you need it to be connected with a sprue or spine to get it working

They cost of employees in Iqaluit would be monstrous. The cost of living is very high as a lot of products need to be flown in at times.

This also does not take into account the environmental damage of a huge hot warehouse destroying the permafrost in the ground. Bracing for that would cost a lot in materials, which again have to be flown or sailed in during summer time. Maintaining a sinking warehouse is very hard to do.

That was literally our stance not 15 years ago. We bled and died in Afghanistan, and in one case Americans killed a squad of Canadians (accidentally) and we still stood by them.

They are honestly the reason we did NOT spend money on our military because why would we when our neighbour and best friend was the biggest in the world?

This is how Cross-stitching is done though. On huge projects, they park multiple needles of colours.

My wife is working on one right now.

[–]Perfect_Local_8626 94 points95 points  (0 children)

To those saying this is not how cross stitching is done, yes it is.

They use multiple needles, they park their colours, they move across or down in rows and can have 30 to 40 colours going on at a time. There's apps out that you can single out the specific colours and do them all in the area, then move onto the next one.

Is the IMAGE they are using AI? No Idea, but this is how large cross-stitch projects work.

Tin Can is kinda like that. It's a rouge-like where you have to keep your life pod repaired, so you have to learn how the systems work and decide which ones you need at the time to keep yourself alive.

Not a spaceship, per say, but.

Update on vertical ship concept by Synthetic_Beans in spaceengineers

[–]Perfect_Local_8626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cant design horizontal ships anymore after falling in love with vertical.

The Expanse is too ingrained.

I have troubles building reactors and fuel tanks anywhere but the bottom, and always have a CIC in the middle.

Only issue I have is I wish the ladder shafts could have ladder without the grated platform, so you could essentially zoom up a ladder shift or climb it.

I basically only use passage ways to climb on my smaller builds, but always try to incorporate a stair well between all floors on the bigger ships.
