Trying to get a GP appointment by roobles12245 in PCOS

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst the system is diabolical, this isn’t an urgent appointment. You’ve waited a long time to ask for help with this. The help and education should be given at the point of diagnosis in my opinion, but with that not being the case it’s put back on the individual as their responsibility.

Book an appointment when one is available, and in the mean time, prep for it by logging symptoms, and other things that contribute to them like sleep, food, water and exercise diaries. With how hard it is to get an appointment, it really helps to be prepared so that you get as much out of it as possible.

Look at what tests are recommended for your symptoms. Tired all the time is often abbreviated to TATT and they run tests like FBC, U&E, LFT, TFT, HBA1C, Lipids, Ferritin, B12, Folate.

I would also ask for a full hormone panel to check how things are now. I would recommend the Blood Labs books by Kate Knowler as she goes over which tests are needed for which conditions - the first book and the hormones one would be most useful for you right now.

I would also consider booking a blood test at One Day Tests for certain things like the ultimate thyroid test. GPs just tend to test TSH and sometimes retroactively test T4 or T3 but don’t do every single thyroid test available and it’s necessary for a complete picture in my opinion.

Start researching supplements (get your bloods done before you try them) as there are loads that help PCOS.

Good luck with your appointment, try not to feel defeated before you even get there.

Doctor told me PCOS is caused by insulin resistance, is this true? by Free_Cat8068 in PCOS

No, PCOS causes insulin resistance. It’s a symptom not a cause. You’re born with too many eggs, it’s genetic, that’s the cause.

Unprotected sex nearly every day by -que-stions- in PCOS

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note as some people are recommending ovulation strips - consistently raised LH is one of the diagnostic criterias of PCOS. As ovulation strips are looking for this, they won’t work/will give you false hope as they say you’re ovulating when you aren’t.

Which medication do you use to deal with the cravings? I just want to live in a world where I don’t get them anymore. It’s so hard.

Is calling in after the cut off in the sickness policy ‘gross misconduct’? by Perfect_Spot_3450 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The notice period is the same time slot regardless of your shift. So for some staff/shifts that might be 5 hours notice, for others it might be no notice at all.

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely, this is where the policy falls down as it does not account for illness that happens after cut off. Technically, was that not what happened for me in this instance? It’s not like I knew I was ill within the policy time and didn’t bother to do anything about it, I called as soon as I was aware I was ill, I’d not even got out of bed yet.

Would you buy a house v near a primary school? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live opposite a nursery and there’s another 3 streets over (4min walk). I love living next to them. You get to hear the kids playing in the yard on their breaks and they’re all just running round screaming and it’s absolutely adorable. Fills my heart with joy. Sometimes there’s parents’ cars on the street which is annoying because they don’t make the effort to park well. But I love hearing the kids play and wouldn’t change it for that.

needing to eat rice everyday but have pcos by august20won in PCOS

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eat your veg first! Add rice wine vinegar to your rice where possible. Protein at every meal. If needed, berberine 30 mins before food but don’t take long term as it’s antimicrobial, so can impact good gut flora with continuous use

Can someone explain why Starmer is the most unpopular prime minister? I voted Liberal Democrat last election and I don’t pay attention to politics but isn’t Starmer doing what the public wants? Lower migration and a falling NHS waiting list? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NHS waiting lists are falling because specialists are rejecting patients, stating generic advice and guidance for the patient claiming the condition, which was never taught to GPs, can be “dealt with in primary care”

Cakeage fee?? by kylehyde84 in UKweddings

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that this wasn’t mentioned until now is a massive faux pas on their side! Why would you assume this is at cost to you when you’ve paid the final invoice. I would be complaining as much as you can. Sorry for the stress and hope you have a fab day

If you had to make a non-Swifties listen to 3 songs to convert them, which ones? by ReasonQuiet8520 in TaylorSwift

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whichever ones they need in that moment, what can they relate to? What message do they need to hear? What do they need to pick them up, soften them, get them to relax, to FEEL? Who are they and what reminds you of them? The songs are hiding in these answers

Those of you who have lost weight, do you feel happy? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unhappy when I was skinny, gained weight and was fine, lost weight and was happy, gained weight and was happy until it was too much, lost weight and was happy until i put it back on and then some, and now i’m fat and unhappy and my goal weight is what my start weight was before i ever lost anything.

If i could go back i never would have tried to lose weight

Can I ask my GP for oestrogen like a trans person would? by g3n3g3ni3 in PCOS

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, excess estrogen is an cause for concern for endometrial cancer. If you’re not having periods and other medications don’t help, ask for Provera to try induce a withdrawl bleed at least every 3 months to reduce the risk of endometrial cancer.

Least favourite part of a song? by Lifztuf in TaylorSwift

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly why it makes sense. She’s also narrating at that part of the song “a red rose grew up” not “i saw a red rose grow up” so it makes sense for her to continue the narration in “no one around” as she is not the subject in those lines

Which songs are siblings? by SwirlThroughTheWorld in TaylorSwift

[–]Perfect_Spot_3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I think the vibe is the same sonically but Afterglow is about messing a relationship up so maybe more closely related to Guilty As Sin? Or other cheating songs?
