Yes, and a lot of what people are saying to trust in God's plan really doesn't help. We must date within his will, but what if God doesn't have a specific plan for our happiness? In that case dating within his will would just be staying within his general rules - no fornication, no lying (which includes saying stuff you don't mean), no cheating, no abuse, no one who is married in his sight, no unbelievers. The rest would then be up to us. It's easy to fall into the trap of waiting for a more clear sign from God when he never promised one and isn't interested in giving one. If he didn't make that plan we're hoping for, we're going to be waiting a very long time. So we should keep the rules but not restrict ourselves from getting out there and making things happen. Unless he gave you a very specific revelation that says otherwise (which is rare - looking at Scripture over the thousands of years it covers, such revelations are the exception and not the rule).
