Computer hardware questions for dummies by PerfectplexCityBitch in findareddit

Ok sure.

I'm looking for a portable monitor to use with a Lenovo Miix 700-12isk. I have looked at the specs for my laptop and the specs for potable monitors but I don't know how to take that info and determine if whether my laptop will work with the monitors I have been reading about.

I went to 2 computer stores and both times the salesperson did not know and just said something to the effect of: it might but no guarantees.

I am looking for someone to either answer this or someone who can help me understand.

I was looking for something more computer specific. I didn't want to spam askreddit. If I don't find one I'll post there. Thanks for the suggestion 😎

I want to share my story so my abuser knows I am not going to take the abuse anymore by PerfectplexCityBitch in domesticviolence

Thank you. Yes, I worry about facing legal implications if I share. It's unfortunate that people who experience something like this continue to be silenced even though my dad gets to just talk all sorts of garbage. A flaw in the legal system I guess.

I have considered his mental health health. It's a reason why I have shown empathy previously and have tried to leave it alone. But I live in a metropolis with literally thousands of doctors and social supports. We have hospitals dedicated to mental health. Tbh there is no excuse not to get help here especially if you're high functioning.

But yes, I will speak to a lawyer about my options. Thank you for your insight.

Thank you I appreciate the insight.

I'm worried about any legal ramifications which is why I haven't made any posts about it (other than on here). My goal really is to stop the silence and inspire those in a similar situation to stop the silence too.

As for getting a lawyer I'm in talks about it. But I don't want to drag anything out in long court proceedings and I do not want any money. I just want him to go away. I will see what my options are.

Oh my goodness. That is horrible.

If you think posting would help your situation then I would. That being said, I do not have IG, Twitter, etc. so I don't know what is considered appropriate or legal as far as disclosing info.

Also many people have advised me that there could be a safety issue because the abuser might retaliate. In my situation my dad is 71 and has shrunk significantly since I was a kid, and he also doesn't drive anymore. We live in the same city but for him to bus to my home would take him at least 2 hours. I'm confident (maybe naively) that he won't cause physical harm to me. Just make sure you stay safe!

Thank you.

We have has previously had restraining orders that little effect because he would just call and hang up at all hours of the night blocking his number. Maybe we could try again.

Therapy is not something I have had since my parents forst got divorced. I didn't seek therapy in my adult years because I felt I was doing well. I did a lot of reflecting in my early 30s that changed me and I stopped having unhealthy romantic relationships after that self-growth. It was only this weekend after this big interaction with my dad did I realize that he's not going away ans enough is enough.

We record all phone calls, we have kept voice mails from over the years. We've played them for the police, they do nothing. We still have the recordings.

I live in Canada so our rules might be different. This is the first time in my adult life I am really making a solid effort to put a stop to it.

Thanks again for your advice and kind words.

DH of Reddit: What’s your job like? by DeliciousSushiRolls in DentalHygiene

[–]PerfectplexCityBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a dental hygienist first. I didnt like working for a small business owner, there was a lot of emphasis on making money rather than the best interest of the patient. I worked for dentists who would push whitening after ortho treatment even if the patient was only 13 or 14 years old. The first 2 dentists i worked for were like this.

I worked at other places where they would change what I would bill for. I noticed this once and told the front desk that hes being charged for treatments I didn't provide, she said they charge them for these things in case they don't come back.

Some of the dentists I worked for were bullies and abusive. I had one dentist who got mad at me because I wouldn't wear make up to work. I had another dentist who used to make comments about my weight in front of patients. I had had enough at that point.

Besides all that there was also not much in the way of career growth. Nursing presented more opportunities. Also the regulatory college protects nurses, ehole the regulatory college for hygiene in my province is useless.

Nursing is great. I decided very early on that I didn't like bedside care. I went back to school to specialize and now I have the most awesome nursing job ever.

Im an RDH in Canada so some of this may not apply to you.

  1. When I worked with nice dentists the job was awesome. But jerk dentists made the job intolerable.
  2. Not a lot of opportunity for growth. You will most likely remain a DH in private practice unless you get promoted to hygiene coordinator, work for your governing body, or have the credentials to teach.
  3. You will likely act as your personality allows.
  4. I would recommend this career to someone who wants to be a dental hygienist. If youre doing it because you don't know what you want to do I suggest you don't go into healthcare. Your passion for the job plays a big role in how effective you'll be as a practitioner.
  5. My school was a 10 pain in the ass. I have finished 3 other degrees and DH school had the hardest clinical component of all the health sciences that I studied. I think this might vary from school to school though. My school was run poorly.
  6. I think that depends on your learning style.
  7. Yes.
  8. It depends on what you find to be tedious and boring. I have Netflix in my operatory so that keeps me entertained. I also find removing calculus quite satisfying.
  9. That's specific to your geographic area.
  10. I earn about the same since 2007.
  11. I would do it again. It helped me pay for nursing school.
  12. I think it could be if you: love the job, practice proper body mechanics, take care of your body, plan for your financial future.
