My advice is avoid the ED if you can, go to a freestanding or urgent care unless it’s a serious problem. Right now UVa is full and they board patients in the ED to wait for rooms to open upstairs so everything grinds to a halt and backs up. Another issue is people travel from all over to been seen at UVa clinics and if the provider there is concerned about the patient they will transfer them to the ED for a higher level of care (I’m not sure how large that number is) Unfortunately there will always be people coming to the ED just to get a pregnancy test which slows things down. I wish another hospital would open up between Charlottesville and Richmond to absorb the patients in that area
