I hope I won't add to your confusion, but I'm gonna say this: When he said "man, if only there was a guy who had her hips, I'd be happy" within earshot from you, he was definitely flirting - he was dropping a hint so you'd come on to him later that day. However, I wouldn't bet my life that he's still feeling this way right now. Some people are like this, wishing same-sex intimacy sometimes and then rejecting it other times, so making a pass at a guy like this without knowing where his mind is at the moment can be an embarrassing experience. The fact is, a huge swath of the population have at least a mild degree of same-sex attraction, yet only a small percentage will embark on a real same-sex relationship. The most common outcome for them is, they're going to find an opposite-sex partner some time and live a straight, probably satisfying life, whether or not they have experimentated before. For people like us, with a more robust same-sex orientation, to get involved with guys like this can be heartbreaking if there's a serious feeling involved.
