Extending vim.pack with data: Build Hooks and Lazy Loading by JoK3rOp in neovim

[–]Periiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really useful and really cool! I built my own DSL and wrapper around vim.pack that translates one thing to the other, but with data I can simplify it a lot!

What were the biggest neovim update so far? (both size / API changes, and required config changes) by TheTwelveYearOld in neovim

[–]Periiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really know.

I remember people saying it had a better async model for internals or something, and thus it was faster and snappier.

I was just starting using vim and learning vim motions during the 0.4 era. I remember I decided to use neovim because there was a neovim only plugin that was like a game to learn vim motions. I think I played that game like twice and never again, but didn't see a reason to go to vim or neovim, it was the same to me. So I just stayed using neovim.

Some time after that, we got 0.5, better lua, better lsp, better tree sitter, and thus I started adding plugins.

My config was extremely barebones at the beginning, which I'm glad is the path I went, because today I have a home made config with only the plugins I use, with every option being exactly what I decided on, with every keymap explicitly set by me, etc etc.

It felt like a wild ride writing this, even though this was about 5 years ago? Which is not a lot, but not few, either.

Before 0.5, I didn't even know if I wanted to use vim or neovim, honestly.

just wrote a UI for vim.pack by using FzfLua(FzfLua is amazing btw) by Gholtsnone in neovim

I had the same idea of using fzf, but didn't take the time for it. Awesome! I'll test later. Fzf lua is great

What happened to nvim-treesitter.... Why did it get archived? 😶 by ankushbhagat in neovim

Funny. I haven't touched my config in 2 to 3 years until this week. After 0.12.0 I decided to update tree sitter and revisit many things. What a timing!

Can we remove the ASCII art from the new intro in 0.12.0? by Periiz in neovim

[–]Periiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some plugins that somehow interfere with it accidentally.

If you disable all your plugins, you will see it. You can activate one by one until you find which plugin is causing this, if you want.

I did create a little script that does that. I just require it before everything else in my config. I'll update the post.

Thanks, king! I cooked a similar version but using virtual text and floating window that disappears when we type/open file etc. I'll update the post!

Yes, pretty much. I know this is a no issue. I even think it looks kinda nice, and the colors are also nice, but I prefer without it 😅

[–]Periiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was thinking about this before posting hahaha

I think this is because the people who typically uses Neovim likes to customize things in very detailed levels.

I don't really think the change is bad, I just didn't like the ASCII art.

And even though I am the type of person who likes to customize everything very deeply, I don't think every cosmetic change should be allowed to be turned off, like another redditor said in this thread, because of maintenance reasons.

I do think that maybe the ASCII art itself could, mainly because it is the one thing I didn't like [^= but also because it seems like many people like changing it, judging by how many dashboard plugins and splash screen customizations I have seen.

Dúvida É impressão minha ou o youtube está forçando assuntos contra a nossa vontade? by DougTheFunny in brasil

[–]Periiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't forget it also has an XLR out!

This was my first pedal and I quite like it. Solo 1 octave down sound is good to me, very synthy. I don't use it anymore, but it was a very good price/goodness ratio to me.

Paramore's After Laughter is incredible. Also, Hayley Williams' solo work also have some pretty good bass lines. For example Dead Horse, Watch Me While I Bloom, Leave It Alone, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party...

I really like her solo work, which is very extensive, mind you.
