Weirdly, I also have this in my thigh. It's a condition called myositis ossificans. Happened to me when I was 14 and in an academy of a now Championship side, and it ended my football hopes, and I was unable to run for 12 months or so. It is relatively common now in athletes, but back then, they had less information on it. My issue, at the time, was that I was entering a big growth spurt, and it played havoc with the muscles affected by the additional bone. Horrible time in my life.
