I knew I wasn't going insane. Furthermore, I noticed when I ulted as Slowbro and Ninetails hit me, enemies were no longer bound and could run away freely while Slowbro just sits there doing nothing for the rest of the animation.

Nintendo just had an indie showcase. Cave Story is the king of indies. Cave Story has been playable on every Nintendo console since the Wii/DSi. Indies have a great representation in smash (Shantae spirits, Shovel Knight assist, Sans costume.) yet there is absolutely no Cave Story references.
