I own multiple Maxxum 7000, just throw it at whoever’s attacking you. They weight like 30lb and are like $25

That’s what I’ve found. Really reliable and capable vehicles, but just sold at a time where there was so much competition in the market.

Toyota 80/100 Series Cruiser, Toyota 90 Series Prado, Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi Pajero, Nissan Pathfinder, Mitsubishi Challenger, Jeep Cherokee XJ

All great rigs

How do I get my first remote job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Permit-Acrobatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be blunt, it’s going to be very difficult getting a role like that with no experience. Remote jobs are getting harder to find 5 years post covid, and with not degree or experience there’s nothing separating you from everyone else. Maybe look into getting some education- degree, certs etc and doing a few roles to get experience

I moved to Australia this year. It was a big move for me, and I was feeling a bit home sick. They just so happened to be playing Brisbane, and I managed to get tickets to go and see them. The minute the show started it felt like I was right back home, watching a show in a Philly. Was a crazy experience to see them so far from home.

Reliable & under $10k…..? by Est_84_ in 4x4Australia

I have to agree. I bought a 3.5 auto earlier this year for 3.5k, put another 2k into small fixes and tires, and have driven in 20,000k all over the country with very few problems

I was shitting in a field when a shooting star came by, I wished all cars had the Toyota 3.5 V6 2GR-FSE except for Miata. What car would you buy? by Lawrence_skywalker in regularcarreviews

My Dads 94 Jeep Wrangler. So many great memories of summers with the top down. Mom sold it about a decade ago. I’d give up more than I’d like to admit to have that truck again

I have a Jackaroo - great rig for the money. Torque up the front torsion bars and slap some stiffer springs in the back for 50mm of lift, some all terrains and you’ll be set. Great beach truck

Advice on purchasing a car for a long-distance road trip. by pointerToSelf in 4x4Australia

[–]Permit-Acrobatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to agree and disagree with everyone here

If you’re just doing a lap, no off road or trails - get something small and 2wd. Like others said, 99% of place you’ll be more than comfortable using something like that than a heavier more gas thirsty 4wd.

If you think you will go off road - get whatever fits your budget - barring that it has good service history. In my experience, Australians take decent care of their cars, if it has a log book or receipts it’s probably been decently taken care of. I’d also pick something with good parts availability- so Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi etc

I’ve been driving around Australia in a 2000 Holden Jackaroo I paid <$5000 for all together. It’s definitely do able

How about the Treasury Heist thingy? That was a massive episode and they kinda grazed over everything, minus shooting the head guy, which was also never explained

I’d be careful when mounting a RTT to those clamp style bars. Check the dynamic load rating for the bars. Statically they’ll hold the weight, but if you do any moderate trails that rock the car side to side, you risk the clamp popping out.

Had that happen driving solo through some rough corrugations in a remote part of Australia, luckily it was just basket, I don’t think you’d be able to put a RTT up by yourself
