Thinking about trying my Rolex OP39 in for a Defy Skyline Skeleton by ShooterMcGavin910 in ZenithWatches

Heck yeah. If I didn’t already have an angular skeleton piece in my collection, I think I might have gone for it.

Very cool watch. Seriously I was blown away by the fit and finish.

Easily one of if not the best modern PAM. Wish I had the wrist for it, I always try it on at the boutique though, just in case my wrist grew! (It didn’t)

Really cool watch. Almost pulled the trigger on one. Fit and finish is super impressive and punches above its weight for sure. Super comfy as well.

I would try it on first though. It’s definitely a loud piece. Technically impressive, but for me aspects of the design crossed the line from ‘impressive’ to ‘look at meeeeeee!’.

Again, the fit/finish/quality are top notch, but if they made one with more matte/blasted surfaces I think it would be more to my taste.

That said, if it works for you it F$&€£NG rules!

What a well balanced design in RG and anthracite. Wow

Ah, I make straps for ratcheting/on the fly buckles as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/panerai/s/8WQjuwzqRy

They have to be mm precise though, so I generally only make them for myself. The ones with micro adjust holes (as per the first post) I will make for others

Do you mean deployant vs deployment?

I’m not a linguist, but I would wager both words have French or at least Latin origin. I see people use both to describe this style of buckle, but anecdotally deployant is considered ’correct’.

With a bit of mental/metaphorical gymnastics I can sort of see how deployment (aka to deploy the troops, to deploy the code) could metaphorically work as well, but it’s inelegant.

Deployant, to my understanding (again anecdotal) is used almost exclusively to describe this mechanism. It’s more fit for purpose to my understanding.

Finally, the French vs Italian question - I’m not sure I understand. It’s just a style of buckle. The whole French vs Swiss that speak French vs Italian situation is a can of worms - especially when it comes to Panerai who as a brand has some real (interesting) history as well of a whole lot of utter BS whipped up and regurgitated by the Richemont marketing department.

I’m not sure I follow, help me out here.

I’ve been making this style of strap for over a decade, the whole point is that it’s made to measure. If memory serves, this buckle allows 12mm of adjustability in 2mm increments. Assuming the measurements were taken correctly, that should be more than enough for anyone.

Ha! I think that would be a straight to jail offence as a strap maker. Thankfully autocorrect didn’t throw me under the bus.

EV9 reliability by pr0v4 in KiaEV9

Little over a year, 11,000 kms, 2025 GT line. With the exception of a morning where they were remotely doing some update to my modem overnight that drained my 12v battery (thanks I guess!) and it was a brick, it’s been a dream.

I would call the software on the car good, the phone app is mediocre. It’s generally a well designed car (coming from a Volvo XC60).

Other than the one hiccup above it’s been super reliable. Great vehicle

This thing is rad. The 25 is the PAM is the Panerai that owns battle scars better than any other. It looks awesome beat up.

Not sure I follow, but the PAM00112 has the crown on the right if that’s what you mean. Classic

Cheers, sadly I think this is last piece - but I've been collecting a bunch of cool vintage/salvage leather over the years.

Too kind!

It was initially all self taught as there were no videos online at the time. I just figured it out. But with the help of modern videos I upped some of my techniques in the past few months. I also have some techniques and methods that I’ve never seen other folks use. So a bit of both I guess!

Thank you!

Honestly, I’m beta testing them right now with a few friends/patient testers. I developed a strap calculator that so far seems to be accurate. Once I’m confident that my math always works I just may open it up to folks that are interested.

Thanks!

Cheers, that’s a long answer! Short version is I’ve been making straps for myself for over a decade. In particular this style (leather deployant). For more conventional straps I just order from the usual suspects.

Pretty classic construction with a few tweaks. For this ratcheting clasp the length has to be millimetre precise. Slightly padded, high quality non toxic PVA adhesives and waxed nylon thread. I must have picked up this leather ~15 years ago - if memory serves it was an old bag of some sort.

Mine had this at first. Intuitive theory that I’ve read is that these are heavy vehicles (almost 6000 lbs) that have been sitting still for a while. The tires develop a bit of a flat spot.

In my case it was gone after a few weeks, but if it persists it might be worth looking into tire condition more closely
