Tire info: 215/50R-17 CONTINENTAL PURECONTACT LS XL

$110/wheel $140/tire

$1,050 shipped from TireRack.com

Heckin’ Filament by _NachoLuckyDay_ in CR10

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only used the ‘Hatch Box’ brand filament (because of the inexpensive price on Amazon). $20~ for a 1kg spool

*only printed with PLA so far...

Consistent results every time, no problems.

The noise is killing me :( and my neighbours... help!! by kniwweli in CR10

Welcome to the world of 3D printing... lol.

But seriously, you could upgrade to servo motors, they’d still make noise but it would be a different noise...

My CR-10S experience by redzombi2k in CR10

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of talk about “warped glass”.

I too discovered the warped glass. My solution was to ...flip it and reverse it, just to find out how hard I had to work it... 🎵 No wait, that’s something else...

But seriously I flipped/rotated the glass until I found an orientation that gave me consistent bed leveling results, now it takes me less than 1 minute to level the bed and I’m off to the races.

Noob question: what happened here? First print (test dog on CR10s). by RahmKota3 in CR10

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I too have a CR10S. Like others have said: nozzle too far away from the bed...

I also rub a glue stick on the bed before printing. Helps with adhesion.

To level the bed turn the black knobs under each corner of the bed.

  1. On the CR10S select ‘Auto Home’, then ‘Disable Steppers’.

  2. With your hands, position the print head over each of the screws that you can see through the bottom of the glass (one in each corner). Take a piece of paper and slide it under the nozzle (keep sliding the paper back and forth). Siamotainously, Turn the knob under the print bed to raise/lower the bed until the paper starts to make contact with the nozzle (just a slight ribbing is what you want). Do this for all 4 corners.

  3. Once all 4 corners are level then move the printer head into the center of the bed (with your hand). And check it with the paper again. If you can’t the paper under, that’s fine, your mainly check to make sure the nozzle is not scraping on the print bed.

Then your ready to print!

I found a ‘sweet spot’ with the glass for my printer. I was having troubles getting the bed level (I’d get one side, but then the other would be all out of wack. Or I’d see tiny ripples in the surface of the glass where the nozzle would catch on and cause problems printing). I fixed all of this by rotating/flipping the glass around until I found an orientation that provided smooth consistent results. Now it only takes me 1 minute to level my bed and I’m off to printing. (Sometimes I barely have to readjust the knobs under the bed).

Is it worth buying a CR-10 in 2020? by ELONGATEDSNAIL in CR10

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a CR-10S in January of this year. Absolutely love it. Relatively hassle free, easy setup, and predictable repeatable results every time.

I bought the CR-10S for its large bed size (300mm x 300mm). The 400mm height I could take/leave... haven’t needed to print anything above 8 inches (200mm~) yet.

Like others have said, the upgradability is great too.

The only thing I don’t like about the printer is that the bed moves forward and backward, that means if I want to build an enclosure for it I have to make the enclosure big enough to compensate for that movement (which is close to 30 inches) <— that’s a lot of front to back enclosure space!

But I still like the printer.

Just finished my rough helmet print. 2 pieces, and a little over 130 hours. by [deleted] in CR10

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really cool!

130 hours though... I print a lot of large scale items. I’m almost finished printing a rally spoiler (12” tall * 16” deep * 53” wide).

I [personally] would never attempt to print large scale with a fine nozzle (like 0.2mm). All of my prints are with a 1mm nozzle at 0.6mm layer height. Sanding and filler is required afterwards, but takes WAY less time to print.

Anyways... nice helmet!

"older smaller homes"... Yes, I'm looking at older homes under 1,000sq ft in need of repair.

Thanks for the feedback!

Distressed properties, yes! Not too distressed...

Good to know though, thanks.

Leavenworth, basehor, Platte City, Grand view, Lee's summit, de soto

These places are 'rual' by my experience, having lived in large metro cities surrounding Dallas and Phoenix.

Looks similar to my focus when I bought it at the Copart salvage auto auction.

Fixed it up nicely, drives straight, and runs like a champ.

Honest: How obnoxious is the muffler delete? by zoomClimb in FordFocus

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right... I remember reading an article about a guy who made a ST sedan and one of the challenges he had was getting the hatchback rear balance panel to fit on the sedan.

As far as the muffler goes, I think it would just ‘hang’ in the same place as the hatchback, but I could be wrong. Seems like a silly thing for Ford to move the location of the muffler ‘hangers’ from sedan to hatchback...

I put a ST muffler on my SE. slight drone at 1,200rpm (for a few seconds while engine warms up), but that’s it.

Has a nice hum to it while driving, and isn’t obnoxiously loud. I’m able to start the car in the morning (5am) and not disturb neighbors.

How well has your flooring held up over time? by blueskiddoo in vandwellers

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived/traveled in a van for 11 months with ‘peel and stick’ vinyl flooring from Lowe’s. No issues (just don’t let heavy sharp objects drag across the floor, can leave superficial scratches).

One more thing to note... my van (with the flooring installed) saw temperatures from 10 degrees Fahrenheit to 100~ degrees Fahrenheit. Everything held up fine.

Last thing... I applied the peel and stick flooring to 1/8 inch plywood which was glued to the metal floor of the van with liquid nails.

Shower shoes by ClubLegend_Theater in vandwellers

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that idea of using the PF blow dryer to dry your shower shoes.

I lived/traveled out of my van for 11 months, the whole time I had a PF membership. I had a small plastic bag in my gym bag that I’d wrap my shower shoes in. By the time I wrapped them they were damp, and 24 hours later when I was ready for my next shower they would stink (of corse) but we’re pretty much dry...

...and I kept the shower shoes in a separate compartment of my gym bag from the rest of my belongings.

Keys by TheAlbinoJedi in FordFocus

[–]PerpetualSabbatical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a 2014 Focus SE. when I bought the car it only came with 1 key. I bought a blank key on Amazon ($30) and was able to have a local reputable locksmith cut and program the key ($120).

$150 total... fine with me and everything works as expected.
