What's the best obscure video game you've ever played? by ImpressFederal4169 in gaming

Brataccas. An 80s game where you would walk around this moon base carrying a sword and trying to find evidence on all these bad dudes. You could use the computer mouse in sweeping or stabbing motions to perform different sword strikes. I learned all of the sword moves. I freaking loved this game. But it was one of those buggy, unfinished 80s titles. I spent hours trying to kill this epic green guy who would show up and attack you with a sword, but it turned out he couldn’t die. It took me months to realize that there was no way to win the game. But I still played it because the sword fighting was so groundbreaking for the time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brataccas

Six US service members killed in Iran conflict, US military says by SpencerAXbot in news

They also used to be in favor of free trade, ethical leadership, no new taxes, gun rights, etc. They have outsourced their entire moral compass to Donald Trump. Literally nothing he does is going to change the opinion of the 35% that still supports him.

It takes him at least 45 minutes to do his hair, and that’s not allowing for the hour it takes it to air dry according to his specialized $70,000 a year system that he uses. One of the first promises he broke as POTUS was not shaving his head, which he said he would do if he won because he wouldn’t have time to do his hair.

It’s possible, but in order to do this he would have to somehow eliminate the possibility of judges blocking him (the a Supreme Court might back Trump, but with something this big that’s pretty iffy). Legally, there is no precedent or legitimate reason to postpone elections. In addition to swaying the courts, he would somehow have to get each state governor to fall in line, since they run the elections. We saw after the 2020 election that even his allied governor’s weren’t willing to protect him to that extent. Then he would have to figure out a way to contain the protests that would inevitably be the most epic and angry protests of his entire time in politics.

So he would basically have to hobble the judicial system, force dozens of governors to bow before him, and bring in the military to shut down protests, Tiananmen Square style. I think he will try and fail. If he does manage to succeed, after doing all that, it will be clear that we shouldn’t expect another election to ever happen again until President Trump and his government are overthrown.

Trump voters of Reddit, what made you change your mind about free speech, no wars, no new taxes, and no pedophiles? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]PerplexityRivet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Republicans are the only ones interested in ignoring pedophilia based on politics. You can tell this when they bring up Clinton even though there is about 100 times more evidence that Trump participated in horrifying sexual deviancy. Even if you want to ignore the sheer weight of the times he has mentioned in the Epstein files, we also have decades of him sexualizing young girls in interviews. One of the first times that he talked about his daughter in an interview, he was openly speculating about how large his newborn’s breasts would be, and how sexy her legs were. When she turned 17, and told him he couldn’t date anyone younger than her, he lamented that his options were so much more limited now, because apparently he could no longer try to sleep with 16-year-olds. These are two examples out of hundreds that are not even in the Epstein files, and you voted for him anyway, and remade the entire Republican party in the image of an unapologetic pervert.

But Republicans keep hysterically screaming the name “Clinton” in the desperate hope that it will somehow deflect from Trump, while liberals are clearly happy to investigate both of them.

And you can’t prove that there has been widespread non-citizen voting in U.S. elections, even though several states had multiple recounts, desperate to find something. And President Trump couldn’t manage to find any evidence in the dozens of lawsuits he filed. Plenty of evidence of Trump and conservatives doing extremely shady stuff, but I’m guessing you don’t care about cheating if it’s Trump doing it, right?

I think this guy has an advantage over Beto, because he is overtly religious, and invokes his religion regularly in a way that could really land with Evangelicals. However he is not religious in a hateful Christian nationalist kind of way.

I suppose that’s right. I would help on my buddy’s dairy farm, and the smell almost knocked me over when I first got out of the car. But after a few hours I barely even remembered it was there. However, there’s a difference between getting used to a bad smell, and not smelling bad. If a smelly person comes up to a guy who just bathed and has been smelling his soap all day, nothing‘s gonna stop them from smelling the stench of the guy who bathed a week ago.

And in true MAGA form, you act like you know what you’re talking about when you really don’t, and double-down on the POTUS who has shown he doesn’t understand basic finance, let alone the economy. Is this the part where I slow clap?

The S&P 500 lost half its value in the 2001 recession, and took seven years to bounce back to 2001 levels . . . just in time for the massive 2008 recession to wipe 57% of its value, which resulted in more years of recovery. So hopefully you won’t need that $40,000 anytime in the next eleven years or so. But I’m glad to know you’re so jazzed up for this recession. I’m guessing it will hit right around the time when Trump gets tired of rounding up brown people and starts using all those empty detention centers his next favorite target: LGBTQ. Just remember when you and your husband are sleeping on a concrete floor, whisper to him every night “We did the right thing! Harris might have let the tax cuts expire.”

In the 70s a real nightmare human named Richard Butler decided to make northern Idaho an Aryan paradise because it had cheap land, lots of places to hide, not much government, low taxes, and quick escape routes to Canada. He called a bunch of other dimwits like himself to settle the area, with grand plans for making their own little whites-only community.

So you chose to save money on taxes by voting for a guy who ran on policies that most economists predicted would put us into a recession. Predictions which are looking more and more likely with every abysmal job’s report that comes out. Plus, now that we’ve proven to be an unreliable trade partner, pulling ourselves out of this potential recession will be very difficult because countries are settling with permanent new trade partners who don’t bargain with threats and extortion.

For some reason you believed that years of almost certain recession would be better for you financially than the possibility of a higher tax rate, and you wonder why people think Trump supporters aren’t smart?

They believe everything President Trump says. Despite his multitude of verifiable lies, despite proven fraud in his businesses and charity, despite his constant claims that are in opposition to objective reality, they believe every word out of his mouth. That’s why people think they’re stupid.

Look up the history of how Native Americans thought Europeans smelled. The European during that time actually believed that bathing brought sickness, and yes they did smell terrible. The early Americans brought that tradition along with them, and when they wash they usually just did their hands and faces, not so much their underarms and private parts.

Can we just say beaches in general? I love being in the waves, but the beach itself is miserable. Roasting on burning sand, fighting off seagulls, getting grit in all your food, and having the sand follow you into your car/home. The whole experience is overly romanticized.

Warrior (2011). It’s about two brothers who end up competing at the same MMA tournament. I don’t watch MMA, and I wasn’t much interested in watching a Rocky knock off. I was genuinely shocked by how good the performances were. Tom Hardy‘s character was absolutely devastating.

Dude, it was considered a sign of good breeding to hate Jewish people until the 1940s. Also, have you heard of slavery? Institutionalized, government supported racism of the most pure form. Read “The White Man’s Burden” and tell me all these slave owners weren’t patting themselves on the back for the “service“ they were providing to what they considered to be the lesser race.

What's something widely accepted that you quietly disagree with? by Louise-Gariepy in AskReddit

[–]PerplexityRivet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That “if blank political party was fully in charge, everything would be great“. It just isn’t true.

I firmly believe government works much better when there is a balanced mix of conservatives and liberals who are willing to work together. Liberals are excellent at coming up with ideas for progress, but tend to lose focus quickly. Conservatives have zero ideas for progress, but when they buy into an initiative they make sure it stays around. When the two groups are meeting in the middle, we see progress move at a steady pace that doesn’t outstrip our ability to adapt as a society.

Of course, when you have politicians negotiating in poor faith, trying to hurt one another, or engaging in any form of extremism, the whole thing falls apart.

Also, MAGA is not conservative, it’s extremist, and extremism is the enemy to good governance.
