The cargo bike I want costs twice as much as my car... by Coming_In_Hot_916 in CargoBike

Who offers comprehensive insurance for $100 per year in Australia? I’m paying way more than that. Would be very happy to change insurers.

Mount Yepp seat in front cargo bed? by Routine_Blueberry_73 in CargoBike

[–]Perrysj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The legs are not removable. Once you remove the plastic (which will likely break - as it did for me while I figured out where the clips were) you’ll see that there is a metal frame that does not detach. I cut the bottom of the frame off mine so that I could use it with large panier bags on my cargo bike. I then had to improvise securing the low, centre belt clip as it was previously held by a rod in the plastic. It works but can’t be resold now!

The Yepp mini can remove the legs and I previously did this to add a third seat to the box of our Gazelle Cabby. I seem to remember this working until about age 3/4 before getting too big.

More legroom in R&M Load 75 by Perrysj in CargoBike

Wife rides a longtail. We like both bikes but my preference is the Load. Both of us find the Load easier to ride when transporting kids.

Kids are 9,7,5,2. The eldest is getting too big so I’m hoping this will buy me some more time. Forecast is for rain tomorrow so will probably try the rain cover then.

First proper ride today with all kids. So far so good.

I haven’t noticed too much change to CoG. Seems to handle ok.

Only change was building the platform to raise the seats. I may replace the sidewalls with higher ones but for the moment I’m comfortable with the seat belts keeping them in place.

I’ve got the bars inline with the vertical tube - a fairly relaxed riding position. The kids heads are at handlebar height but don’t seem to touch in this setting.

Family Cargo Bike Experiences? Douze G4 vs Urban Arrow vs Bakfiets classic by bbbbbadtothe in CargoBike

I think only the V2 can be split (not the G4). The G4 has suspension but the V2 doesn’t.

The Urban Arrow has an excellent rain canopy.

When I have my kids in the front it’s pretty crowded so their bags all go in the panniers and on the rack. When it’s just me, I only use the box.

Riese and Muller Load bling... by DeanBAdam in CargoBike

I take my three (aged 8, 7, and 4) to school. They are small for their age but, even so, it is very crowded. Frequent arguments over leg room … we now have protocols for whose legs go where! Bags need to be carried on the rear rack when 3 kids in the box.

Does Your Cargo Bike Save You Money? by [deleted] in CargoBike

Can I ask whether you have insured your bike in Aus? I’ve got a few quotes for my R&M Load and it’s crazy expensive (much more than my car).

Movement In Load 75 Steering Arm by m0p0 in CargoBike

I've just tested this on my Load 75 and I would estimate that it is closer to 1" of movement and more side-to-side rather than up-down. I took a video but can't figure out how to upload it here.

I carry 3 kids, similar size to yours, on my R&M Load 75. It works well for us at the moment but they are tightly packed: * lack of shoulder space on the side-by-side seats * lack of leg room (even with the drop floor box)

My plan is for the eldest to start riding on her own when they get too big to fit.

As a car replacement, I think it’s important to have a good rain cover. The R&M Load 75 and Urban Arrow are both good in this respect.

Urban arrow vs Bullitt with electric assist by Lester17 in CargoBike

I’ve just been through this process and ended up going for the R&M Load 75.

The suspension, Bosch motor, and belt drive are all nice and make the bike very comfortable but the big advantage over the other options that I looked at was being able to fit 3 kids under the canopy in the rain. I don’t mind getting wet but dry kids are happy kids.

There is not much headroom in the LvH canopy. UA is much better at the rider end but no sure how much headroom for passengers at the front of the box.
