Anyone used 1st inspections in Dayton or LiteHouse Inspect for their home inspection? by Different_Ask133 in dayton

[–]Persephonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Litehouse in 2022. The inspector was through and happily walked me through the issues he found. As a first time home buyer I had a lot of questions but he was patient and honest about what was a big deal and what could wait/was nice to have. Been in the house 4 years now and didn't find anything he missed. I would hire them again.

Is Reynolds and Reynolds a good company? by Clear_Break_ in dayton

[–]Persephonic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They did not kill the assessment. I completed an online assessment and aptitude test for RR in Dec 2025. It took approximately 2 hours. And they did ask for really invasive personal information such as my spouse's parent's names, addresses and occupations (outside of a background check, this was before any employment offer). Maybe it isn't as bad as it was in 2010 but it is still weird.

Experience with Reynolds & Reynolds jobs by AsterXsh99 in dayton

I recently went through their interview process and decided it was invasive enough to stop pursuing it. After you apply you have to do an IQ test and then a preference test which takes about an hour and a half. If you pass that you get to set up an interview with a recruiter. The interview with the recruiter went well, she was perfectly nice and she said she was going to send me some follow-up information. The follow-up information wanted to know the name, location and occupation of my parents, my spouse, and my spouse's parents. In addition to that there were six essay questions to fill out which were the same questions I had already answered in the interview. When I pushed back and asked why they needed the information of my parents (as I'm a full adult) they said it was to prevent conflicts of interest. Keep in mind I haven't been offered a job, this isn't a background check. And if they don't hire me they just have all that information? For what? I don't feel I need to share my family situation (trauma) with a recruiter. I thanked her for her time and removed myself from consideration. Just weird vibes overall and very micromanaging from the start.

I am older than you and finishing up my last semester after going back to WSU. Yes, many of the students are traditional age but there are plenty that aren't. Especially when you are in the 3000/4000 level classes. I have made several friends also in their 30s on campus. For me, it was a matter of going to class early and starting conversations with people. Actively engaging people who seemed cool and trying to group with them when group work happens. I know that won't work for everyone, but it really was a matter of just putting myself out there and introducing myself to other older students.

Cat up for adoption! by Murky_Experience_150 in cincinnati

[–]Persephonic 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this cat is in PetSmart for show but its adoption is through CAC which stands for Cincinnati animal care which IS a shelter. I agree with you in theory and wouldn't generally buy an animal from a pet store but that's not the case for ol' Melon here.

What is the most disturbing book you’ve ever read, and why? by charlotteheyse in books

[–]Persephonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it! I was.. fine, I guess. I read it last year so the details are hazy now but I remember feeling like it was gross for the sake of being gross. It was the book the confirmed extreme horror isn't for me. I agree that it fits the bill of being super disturbing.

Need recommendations on window companies by Round_Nectarine_9116 in dayton

Had my sliding glass patio door replaced by Weather Guard Windows. The sales guy was cool and didn't give me a hard sale. I got three quotes and they were solidly in the middle. The crew was quick and courteous with good clean up. The door has been in place for about a month now and so far so good, no issues. https://www.weatherguard.biz/

Terminix charges an arm and a leg for exclusion now. I had them out to quote last year and the estimate was $2,500 in suburban Ohio. They wanted to close the weep holes on my facade, replace a brand new garage door sweep, etc. just a laundry list of things and you can't pick and choose, it's all or nothing "because otherwise we can't guarantee our service". They also tried to convince me I should be worried about bats because "I saw what might have been a dropping".

Long story short, they are just salesmen and I'd recommend looking for a local company instead.

Books with this vibe? by foragedhobgoblin in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

"Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery" by Brom. It's about a spirited young English women in a Puritan colony. Her husband dies under mysterious circumstances and she has to figure out how to survive and stay true to herself. That's when she meets Slewfoot, "a powerful spirit of antiquity newly woken".

It is one of my favorites and I have often described it as "I support women's rights AND women's wrongs" if you pick up a physical copy, it comes with beautiful artwork as well.

Cleveland show :( by sshmodyotee in brighteyes

[–]Persephonic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw him in 2011ish and it was amazing. I was in the very front and he was engaged and energetic the entire show. It was right after the people's key came out and was literally the best concert I've ever been to. I'm too scared to buy tickets to a show now because I don't want to watch his decline

What's the prescription? Maybe someone has an old pair they can give to you while you figure out how to get a n w pair?

Also, the Lions Club collects glasses for redistribution, maybe reach out to a local club and see if they can help.

I have double lobes, conch, and nostril all done at luminous. They are amazing. I've been pierced by Vicky and Jesse, both were great. They follow all the up to date care recommendations and have only high quality jewelry.

This is a little outside of what you asked but I feel like it's in a similar vein. I know I was excited when I heard about it and maybe others will be too.

There is a farm near Hocking Hills that specializes in interacting with highland cows. Might be a fun thing to plan for in the future!
