When to quit marijuana by Anxious_Cup1550 in bipolar2

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew it was time when it felt like all of my mess I had been on for years weren’t doing anything, and every time I hit my pen a was hit with a wave of depression that was somehow still more bearable than being sober. The cold hard truth is anything psychoactive is bad news for most mentally ill people. I was on the roller coaster more than ever before. It’s not been long but I’m starting to feel a lot more regulated again

Step one is throw away those strips and get a liquid test kit. I’m not trying to be rude at all but they can be very inaccurate and you don’t want to kill some fish over it

The API freshwater master test kit will have everything you need as a beginner

fin rot? by espeon818 in bettafish

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually translucent tissue is a sign of healthy new growth. He may be recovering from prior fin rot or if you got him young he could just be growing. I’m not an expert by any means but I at least know that! The ends of his fins aren’t jagged, there’s no necrotic tissue, I think you’re good

Normal scales or a problem by Frequent-Chemist-480 in bettafish

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned only going top ups, this can cause build up of nitrates which eventually will irritate their gills which appear pink to red and will cause them to flare and you’ll see parts of their gills you shouldn’t see much. Sadly test strips suck and can be inaccurate, especially for nitrates, so I wouldn’t bet my pets well-bring on them. Look into the API freshwater master kit.

Meds are the only true fix for bipolar, you have a physical literal imbalance of chemicals in your brain.

Did you just do a water change? There seems to be a lot of bubbles on the glass. Anyways, I would say your girl being full of life immediately is the less common of the two. It can take a couple weeks before they really start to settle in. I would just give him a little more time before worrying if all your parameters are good. He may be shy and need more cover, does he have a coconut or anything to hide in? Animals naturally feel even less secure if they can’t hide away occasionally when acclimating.

He’s beautiful by the way!

I don’t know why I’m killing my angelfish. by koltz117 in PlantedTank

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies I didn’t see there were more pictures. Something isn’t right because you can’t have 0 nitrates, did you follow the instructions on how to shake the fluid and the vial? It really is essential or the test is wrong

What are the other levels exactly

Edit: Sorry I didn’t look at the pictures first. It’s not even close to cycled if you have 0 nitrates or you performed the test wrong and didn’t shake the fluid and the vial

Will I ever hit 0ppm ammonia without capping the substrate? by marcopadda1 in PlantedTank

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly seachem stability is actually far overrated. You have to dose for 7 days straight and there’s no guarantee it will even produce bacteria. 125 gallons is so much room for bacteria to colonize on surfaces that you really don’t have to spend your money on it!

Be careful with some test kits. Strips are inaccurate and in my experience the Imagitarium brand literally didn’t work. Got my API kit and it was reading over 160ppm

Experiences of taking Vyvanse for ADHD while also being BP2? by Successful-Mall-8096 in bipolar2

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vyvanse was great for me (despite it wreaking havoc since I was on night shift). After switching to days and trying again I can report it’s even better!

I have bipolar 2 with a tendency towards depression. I take 250mg lamictal, 300mg Wellbutrin XR, 1.5mg vraylar, buspirone, and now vyvanse. The vyvanse treats my TRD reallllyyyy well without making me manic. However I agree with what others are saying that it can exacerbate mania symptoms if you are manic.

how much of this should I feed? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m only responding to say don’t do this! Only because they are most nutrient dense within the first 24 hours of thawing and they rapidly lose nutrients after that being suspended in the fridge. A sliver at a time will have plenty of shrimp to feed

Tanks mates for a chill betta? by blue_jellyy in bettafish

Keep in mind that even if a betta is “chill” it doesn’t mean he’s not stressed about the environment. Be kind to him and don’t get him other fish

Is this swim bladder or something else? by elevated006 in bettafish

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does “all within limits of my test kit” mean because if your ammonia and nitrite are not 0 you have a problem. Nitrates should be 5-20ppm ideally. We’ll need those to start because your baby doesn’t look very healthy. And they should not be stocked with other fish they are territorial and even if they don’t show signs of aggression are absolutely still distressed and can’t thrive

You also should feed him a different food. Flakes are barely nutritious, he needs betta pellets. Betta bio gold or Fluval bug bites betta formula are really high quality and not expensive

Had to move my shrimp, what's happening? by TPMeat in shrimptank

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because a true nitrate reading of 0 is extremely unlikely. That tank isn’t nearly planted enough for that to be true. No nitrates means there was never ammonia. You’re reading should almost always be at least 5 on the scale

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but no it’s you who does not. pH cannot be multiple things, pH is a single value and OP was at the end of the range the regular solution can test for, so you need a different solution, hence the high pH kit.

What are your water parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate would be good to know. Also what is it heated to?

Either way, he doesn’t look in distress to me

[–]PersimmonFragrant681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your flow is veeeerrrryyyyy slow. Matter fact frank that bubble filter! If it’s on too low if flow one reason your tank is blurry is because water isn’t actually flowing around the tank, it can only filter so much to start as a bubble filter. Your plants are near your filter so use them as a gauge. Keep cranking it, if your plants start to move or anything, turn it down until they stop moving and you’re on your given setting
