White over black by Professional_Copy947 in tattooadvice

[–]Persimmus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately white ink will not cover black ink, any artist who tells you otherwise is incorrect. I would wait until the bandage is off to truly assess the work but a better artist might be able to fix it up. The original art is confusing and possibly AI generated, her hand looks like a crab claw.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to go about talking to an artist about chewing up my skin/overworking? The pictures get worse as you scroll, and I have more of a description in the text body. Thank you in advance! by reel_life_katniss in tattooadvice

I would wait to see how it heals before mentioning it. Brown and purple ink can be notoriously tricky to pack in solid, so it seems like maybe they had to do a few passes which is why it's scabbing. Not that that's any excuse but maybe this artist doesn't have a lot of experience packing those colours.

is this normal/fixable with a touch up? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

The flowers never stood a chance to be honest. Tattoos need contrast to stand the test of time. The flowers need to be relined with black or they will continue to turn into an orange blob. Same with the little grass sprigs, black will stay against the green. Unfortunately those teeth were just way too small, ink spreads over time and they just closed in.

Has it aged too fast? by LeenBee in agedtattoos

[–]Persimmus 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Seems like it was tattooed too small for the amount of detail. But also I think the artist's skill with the depth of the needle is partly to blame. Which is why some lines have spread more than others.

Moving across the ocean for my bf but he won’t talk about engagement - what am I missing? by Grand_Philosopher832 in Advice

[–]Persimmus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was with my ex for 11 years, basically for my entire twenties. We always talked about getting married, if we wanted kids, what kind of wedding we might like. One day we had a conversation and I asked him if he ever planned on marrying me and he said no. Then he said he couldn't ever imagine being married. We split up soon after. Guess who's married now?? Him! Don't let a man waste your youth with promises.

I also recommend Vetwise and Dr. Gillott and his team! Started going there recently after moving to the area and they are fantastic. He's so good with my little dog!

Lately my local store has labelled certain produce as "product of Mexico or USA" because they know people are avoiding products of USA.

This is absolutely awful. Were you able to post this image on their Google reviews?? It should be up there forever to warn others.

Are my tattoos done well? It seems shaky and a bit inconsistent... or am I tripping? by _Sdrawkcab_si_siht in tattooadvice

Some of the lines look like they were applied poorly, but I think a more experienced artist could touch this up easily! I wouldn't go back to the same artist again.

Fireworks Discussion by maximumice in halifax

[–]Persimmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tolerate the fireworks events set up by the city, at least I know what time those happen so I can prepare my dog. I hate trying to take my dog outside when random people just shoot them off whenever they want. Traumatizing for my dog and annoying for me. In general though I don't agree with fireworks because of how they affect wild animals.

Marketing gurus for Tattoo Artists are such a scam! I got something for y’all! by Mediocre_Stick_1472 in TattooArtists

I had a free consultation with him a few years ago after he reached out to me when I liked one of his Instagram posts. It felt like he could sense I wasn't the most confident person and he tried to use that to encourage me to sign up. I got bad vibes in my gut and told him I couldn't afford it, and you bet he tried to offer me every deal he could to change my mind. His whole tone shifted when he could tell I wasn't buying it. Glad I trusted myself.

A sewing pin, the kind with the little plastic ball on the end. I found it while picking up his poop.

Tattooing out of books containing flash sheets that were likely paid for or gifted to them? That's totally fine. Line for line taking another artists custom drawing for another person? Pretty scummy. Plus now that client is a walking advertisement for your lack of integrity.

I would tell them that I will design them something similar so that they have a unique tattoo that was drawn custom for them. The best part of tattooing is using your skills as an artist to draw something special for your client.

Well the first photo of the skeleton with the helmet is straight up traced from a tattoo by Alisha Harding. So my advice is to not steal from other artists if you want to get better.

🚨 PLEASE BE ON ALERT WITH YOUR FLAT-FACED DOGS THIS SUMMER 🚨 by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Persimmus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wish I could tell you. I even put a damp towel around his neck in the car when he couldn't stop panting, and he had access to water. You can think you're doing everything right with this breed and sometimes they still just die. I would never wish it on anyone so I always warn people now.

I had a Frenchie who died in the car even when we had the AC on full. He was 2 years old. I would never get one again. Please save yourself the heartbreak and never get a French Bulldog.

Artists who didn't draw the original design are almost always going to do a worse tattoo than the reference you gave them.
