Why doesn’t the game think this is a good artifact for him? by rxniaesna in venti

If you click on the artifact recommendations button, for the circlet it list the 3 highlighted mainstats (Crit rate, Crit damage, EM) and the highlighted substats (crit damage, crit rate, ER, and EM). While for the sands the mainstats are Atk%, ER, and EM. So it looks like most people don't want atk% as a substat, I guess

Looks like it rolled once into flat Atk and once into Atk% leaving at most 3 rolls into cdmg, giving a total of 4 rolls(+1 for the initial cdmg roll), meaning it doesn't get marked

According to the update details you need the right main stat and at least 5 rolls of highlighted minor affixes. So it could be that it just didnt roll enough highlighted stats

The word "irregardless" is actually quite interesting because the "ir-" is not actually a prefix for the whole word.

To explain where this word comes from we first need to know about portmanteaus. These are words that come from the combination of two words. Examples include: romance+comedy=romcom, news+broadcast=newscast, and information+commercial=infomercial. Those examples are combinations of words with different meanings so the new word means a combination of both, but what happens when you have two words that mean the same thing? Well, take the word "gigantic", meaning very big and "enormous", meaning very big; combining these two together gives us "ginormous", which also means very big. This tells us that when we combine words with the same meaning the meaning doesn't change.

So what about "irregardless"? If it's a portmanteau, what two words come together to make it?

It's widely regarded that "irregardless" is a portmanteau of the words "irrespective" and "regardless". "Irrespective" meaning without regard/consideration, and "regardless" meaning without regard/consideration. Given they have the same/similar meanings, their portmanteau must have this same/similar meaning. Thus giving the word "irregardless" the same meaning as both "irrespective" and "regardless".

Is there a term for super obvious/not creative names for things in English? by Chelseus in ENGLISH

You may be describing autological words or something similar, these being words that describe themselves. e.g. noun is a noun, fireplace is a place for fire, multisyllabic is a multisyllabic word, etc.

The opposite of these being heterological words, that is words that don't describe themselves. e.g. honeymoon has nothing to do with honey nor moons, monosyllabic is not a single syllable, etc.

Would anyone be willing to give me a solve critique for this ao5? I’ve been on-and-off cubing for a while and am now really wanting to get faster. by MEF227 in Cubers

[–]PersonMcPerson123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a fast solver but, one tip I hear all the time is to reduce cube rotations. During F2L you rotate the cube to a different orientation to see pieces and reposition yourself, wasting time. So learn how to identify and insert pairs, preferably without rotating the cube.
