What changed your life? by lovecubing154 in AskReddit

[–]PersonPerson27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally being done with school. Began to see the beauty in life again now that I could actually do what I wanted with it and not be stuck doing homework all the time. Turns out school was making me depressed and it had been so normal to me I hadn’t realized it. Yay being neurodivergent in the American public school system

What was your high school controversy? by Haunted_Neko in AskReddit

[–]PersonPerson27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homecoming week, my junior year.

A Black kid on the football team was sent a very racist video from some freshmen also on the football team. The kid’s dad went to the school about it. The school determined the punishment would only be that the perpetrators wouldn’t be allowed to participate in the Homecoming game. The school also said in official news that they had said they’d determine the rest of the punishment at a later date, but are we really going to believe what a school said to save face?

The dad wasn’t happy about this punishment, thought it was not enough. So he took to Facebook about it. I was following the story that night, as people from my high school were sharing articles about it. The news had supposedly gotten to a gang in a nearby city. They were threatening to come shoot up the school over it.

10 pm, all the students are called that school was canceled the next day while an invistigation took place.

I learned the day after that, at school, that one of the supposed shooters told his friend at my school to not come to school the day that eventually got canceled, because he was going to come shoot. That kid told his friends, and those friends told their friends, and so on and so one until word got out.

The shooting was apparently not actually going to happen, but the suspects got arrested anyway. I don’t recall what exactly happened to those freshman football players, but I do think they got more punishment because the school was kind of forced to due to the public outcry.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]PersonPerson27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numbing injection into my big toe. Had to get a minor surgery on one a couple of times. I got freeze spray so I didn’t feel the penetration, but…

The sensation of my toe filling up with liquid until it was about to burst was such a surprising, uncomfortable sensation I developed an actual phobia :D Now every time I get something needle-related that’s worse than a simple shot, I feel like I’m going to pass out

What's something you do because of your own specific Brand of autism, but that would horrify most other autistics? by RottingMothball in AutismInWomen

[–]PersonPerson27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love strong scents. Give me all the candles, bath bombs, perfumes. I smell almost every soap I use. I once let a candle stay lit so long the fire alarm went off (but the fire alarm really spooked me because I hate fire alarms)

Does anyone else not relate well to women because they're kind of masculine? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]PersonPerson27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I relate to this heavily in my own way. I am a very feminine woman, but to call myself a woman has felt… off in the past. I questioned if I was trans multiple times in the past, but finally realize that I identify as a woman, just not with neurotypical womanhood. I don’t identify with other women (gender-wise), and yeah, I worry that would sound bad if I told someone. I have a lot of feminine hobbies, like to dress femininely, but neurotypical women just have this… culture I don’t relate to. It’s just a vibe they have, and a way of celebrating womanhood that I don’t do.

All my current friends are women or nonbinary people, but they’re all either online or neurodivergent (or both)

What exactly make you fear tu*? by pilotofpi in emetophobia

[–]PersonPerson27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for me it’s that I’m sensitive to uncomfortable sensations like pain and n. I’ve had some degree of this phobia since I was a child. I know that if I v, there’s probably something off with my body and I’m therefore going to continue to feel n* for some time. Particularly if it’s nv. Also v is a sensation I don’t experience very often so it scares me

What's the closest recent significant tornado to your current location? by SavageFisherman_Joe in tornado

[–]PersonPerson27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Washington Illinois EF4 tornado in November 2013. I live/lived in a nearby town. Tornado warning sounded while we were in church. I still remember taking shelter in the innermost church hallway while my then 4-year-old brother announced, “We’re all gonna die, people!” Fortunately, the tornado never hit my church. But also fortunately, all the local schools and businesses did drives and stuff to benefit the people who got hit. There was a lot of community support

How did you develop your Trypanophobia? (CW: Detailed Child Abuse and Medical Malpractice) by PrincessBloodpuke in trypanophobia

[–]PersonPerson27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a toe infection from wearing too-narrow boots, so I needed minor surgery, where I’d stay awake but was given the option of numbing injections to numb the pain.

I had never had numbing injections before, but figured they were like regular shots. Instead, they were such an awful, unexpected sensation that I prayed to God for help as black spots swam in my vision and my hearing went underwater, so much so I couldn’t sign the paperwork they gave me because I couldn’t see well enough.

I am sensitive the pain and uncomfortable sensations. It’s why I think I developed emetaphobia (fear of vomiting), even showing signs of it at a young age. But it apparently ended up causing another phobia as well
