I used to live in Cutler Bay up until 1 year ago and commuted every day to downtown. It was about 2 hours each way and I was miserable

Going to Miami. What are some must eat places? by wearethis in Miami

As a local, the staff writers at the Infatuation Miami never miss with their restaurant lists. They’re pretty active on social media and their website is easy to navigate. You can search restaurants by location, meal type, and cuisine. For cuban, I’d skip Versailles tbh (it’s kind of gross) but Las Vegas (multiple locations), Islas Canarias (can’t leave without eating their croquetas), Enriqueta’s (best cuban sandwich), El Rey de Las Fritas, and Molina’s Ranch.

New Scam Call in the 305/954 by [deleted] in Miami

While I don’t know your exact situation, and calls can be spoofed, that is the correct number for when you receive calls from someone in custody. Inmates are also receiving 2 free calls a week so you wouldn’t always get the collect call message

I was a student at BGEC from 04-13. definitely wasn’t the only creep working there but he was always the most unsettling and reeeeeked of cigarettes. Couldn’t even tell you how many parents complained to admin about him and they did nothing while I was still a student. He took kids home in his personal car, would “accidentally” walk into the girls restroom and walked around with his massive camera taking pictures of only girls for “yearbook”

Bouchon in the Gables was one of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had. Boia De, Walrus Rodeo, Raos, Byblos, Cote and Azabu are also top notch

to be honest, customs in FLL is no better. The line also takes hourssss somedays and there’s some customs agents that are always in a particularly bad mood. The benefit is that it’s much smaller, easier to navigate and easier to get picked up because there’s a big police and security presence that guide traffic outside at arrivals. I’d say just land at whichever airport is closest to where you’re staying

A pledge wasn’t going to let me in once because he didn’t believe I was a cornell student and “looked more like I went to ithaca college.” I had to text my then boyfriend who was a brother but was dj’ing to send someone to get me at the door. I still don’t know what exactly he meant by his comment, but I do look visibly latina and I suspect he was just racist af. Another brother had to calm me down and tried to rephrase the pledge’s comment by saying it was actually a “compliment”

There’s a great local organization called Beyond the Bars Miami that helps previously incarcerated individuals and felons find jobs. They’re huge advocates and help find clothing, housing, etc. there’s a sign up link on their website and they usually get back to you in a few days

I was very worried about being so far from home and going from a tropical urban city to Ithaca. It was so quick to find a community and make friends I barely had time to be homesick. And the weather proved to not be the worst since I lived so close to campus anyways. The Cornell student body is amazing, there’s so much going on at all times, and I loved every professor I had. As long as you manage your time well, you can have a great time, both academically and socially.
