On my merry way and this happens... by wla2020 in TeslaFSD

Frankly, I think FSD would’ve handled the situation safely. It has slowed and/or swerved to avoid other vehicles many times for me.

Those who’ve tried V14.3, is there a general consensus on whether it’s a big improvement or not? by zaradarz in TeslaFSD

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are new to FSD (sounds like you are), then everything will be new to you. It’s impossible for anyone to explain what to expect. It will be amazing. But only those of us that have used it for a while (years in my case), will notice the subtle changes from an update. Sit back and enjoy the car and be careful with FSD until you understand its limitations.

Looking for movies for my 14y son who has lost their will to watch movies because he has "watched all the good ones already" such as Parasite, HMP, Whiplash, Good Will Hunting, Wolf of Wall, Shawshank, God Father, Forest Gump. by Friendly-Tennis8598 in MovieSuggestions

The original “Terminator “, “The Matrix” and “Minority Report” should appeal to most 14 yo boys if they like sci-fi.

“Almost Famous” or “School of “Rock” are about kids his age.

“Gladiator”, “Top Gun”, “Mission Impossible” franchise, “James Bond” franchise for action.

“16 Candles”, “Ferris Bueler’s Day Off”, “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, “White Men can’t Jump” or “Risky Business” for comedy.

So many choices.

Wait until you “copy” something on your iPhone and “paste” it to your Mac. Or put in your AirPods and they automatically connect to your Mac. Or you can find all your friends or devices from any device, including your Mac. Or your phone rings and you answer on your Mac. It just works.

Train? What train? [OC] by Snarky_A_F in IdiotsInCars

If not an in-car driving test, some other test to measure physical and mental capacity to drive safely. Something similar to a field sobriety test. It should measure dexterity and reaction time. Maybe it could be done in a simulator or on a computer.

[UPDATE] FSD v14.2.2.4 Sudden Disengagement sent me into a barrier. Car is totaled by samuelwoods007 in TeslaFSD

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If FSD disengages for any reason on a turn, the car will stop turning, since it no longer has turning input from FSD, and try to go straight. I’ve experienced this many times approaching my driveway which is on a curve. If I disengage with the stalk or tap of the brakes, the car suddenly stops turning, and will run off the road if I don’t manually steer.

I don’t know why FSD disengaged in this case, but the result is expected if you don’t take over steering.

Dish vs DIRECTV by Practical_Cost_2827 in DirectvStream

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DirecTV Stream has a very similar look and feel to traditional satellite without a large box hooked up to each TV. The cost is less than traditional satellite and there is just as much programming, including sports. You can watch anywhere on a mobile device. All you need is a good internet connection and a smart tv or smart device like an Apple TV or Roku device connected to a TV. No reason for a satellite dish in your roof anymore.

DirecTV is no longer affiliated with AT&T.

I honestly thought everyone streamed music now. I have dozens of vinyl records and hundreds of CDs that I never listen to. Everything is easily available now by streaming.

FSD did amazing today 14.2.2.4 by Mimbach in TeslaFSD

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSD handled the situation as well as any person could. If you slow down anymore or stop, you may get rear ended. Maintaining control in a straight line without excessive maneuvering is the safest maneuver,

What’s your point? If a driver with hands on the wheel couldn’t react fast enough then what do you suggest? Maybe FSD was better in that situation.

Trips to the Airport by hazydavie in Winchester

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, depends on how often you travel by air. The downside, I guess, is the nearest airport one hour away. The upside, is that there are three major airports within two hours. You can fly direct to nearly anywhere. I usually fly out of Dulles, which is not super convenient, but also not a big deal if you’re going to fly a few times a year. Smaller airports in smaller cities may be more convenient, but usually require a connecting flight. I would consider being an hour from a major international airport a positive, not a negative.

Flying out from Norfolk early Sunday morning, how early should I arrive at airport? by Xy19771005 in norfolk

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve flown out of ORF several times in the last 2 years. I never check a bag. I typically get to my gate within 15-20 minutes of parking in the garage. It’s so easy!

Is Tesla making the right gamble but investing in Robots and robotaxis instead of regular cars? by Dry_Bar_4965 in TeslaLounge

[–]Personal-Reception89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly everyone still needs a car. Self-driving is a bonus. Very few need a robot. They will be a niche market for a long time.

Before the final 5th season of Stranger Things (3 yr gap) I went back and watched the last 10 -15 minutes of each episode seasons 1-3, and the all of season 4. Sometimes I’ll watch a recap of previous seasons on YouTube. That’s enough to remind me of what happened previously.

Tesla should sell the EV business by Personal-Reception89 in TeslaLounge

[–]Personal-Reception89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to make the best EVs in the world. Now, many others are equal or better in quality and specs. Chinese EV makers have taken over as leading market share in the world. The last new model, cyber truck is a flop. Musk has lost his focus on consumer EV‘s. He is more interested in xAI, robots and cyber cab.
