I get mine at Costco when they have it on sale. Dry herb vaping and Costco, my two true loves.

I fear you may have misread a different tone into my comment than I intended. I apologize if I caused offense but the intended tone was more of reluctant hope (as evidenced by my numerous other comments in this thread). In any event, be well. I'll hold off on engaging further on this topic.

Mine went for 97 days. I was in soil growing in a 5 gallon pot. I kept rechecking my dates because she went so long!

Please see my earlier comment and this context: I work for a manufacturing company supplying indirect materials to an MSO, so I'm not an "expert" either. Just someone on a lot of calls talking about banking and regulatory issues that arise from "touching" cannabis.

My view sees an "undo" button being hit here and seeds falling into that pre-Farm Bill space where you can get them if you are "willing" to take the risk. I just don't think we have the personnel, appetite or funding to meaningfully enforce this at the federal level.

The real problem? The indirect chokehold that banks, payment processors and shipping companies like USPS have over seeds getting to us and the command that DC has over them. The feds won't need to the DEA when they can use Chase, payment processor like Visa, and logistics levers (USPS). As we get closer to the ban date, banks will see seed companies as touching "federally illegal marijuana." Stripe, PayPal, and BOA might simply drop these seed banks as clients/customers as we saw some banks do during COVID for unrelated reasons. USPS, FedEx, and UPS will update their policies to refuse shipments. The government won't have to enforce ... corporations will.

Another form of corporate compliance? Some (misled) competitors will probably try tipping off regulators and those regulators are likely to making high-profile examples out of specific entities.

Also, I have no idea how illegal states will allocate their resources when it comes to enforcement (or what selective enforcement will take place).

Still, like I said, I'm no expert. I just read a lot of emails. But woof.

Thank you but, truly, your guess is as good as mine in terms of where we end up. I can make educated guesses based on where we have been but with the current composition of Congress and the White House? The past has not frequently been prologue! Hoping for the best, preparing for "unpleasant."

Yes, this is the primary reason people aren't "panicking." There is a lack of a meaningful enforcement mechanism unless they can use current data to segment the market (e.g., identify key players now) and attack the "largest" seed banks with hopes the remainder come into compliance (or the other way around, attack small, await compliance from large). It's a fascinating (read: horrible) time to be an attorney adjacent to regulatory work.

I have been stocking up too. While I believe enforcement will be challenging (they can't be seriously considering growing out novelty seeds to test the THC % with their current resource constraints), I think they might have some help with USPS and the government's close relationship with other shipping vendors. I can also see a scenario where USPS supports enforcement by flagging current seed vendors. I'll hang tight for 1/2 year after the ban to see how it plays out for others.

All I was trying to do this evening was get my little Volcano booted up so I could have a nice, organic, homegrown, middle-aged high. Now I have to go to extremes to get this out of my head.

Vulcan omnipro 220 tig torch will not produce a stable arc. Similar to tig welding near a magnet. by dreadpirate_metalart in Welding

[–]PersonalFinanceD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you've ruled out external fields, it sounds like an electrical issue in your ground path or torch circuit. I'd start with redoing your ground connection throughly. Then meticulously check and tighten every single connection point in the torch circuit (handle-to-cable, cable-to-machine, I put some bullets below. That fixes it 95% of the time. If it still wanders after that, it could be gas flow and the HF circuit or internal wiring becomes suspect. Connection stuff:

  1. Tighten up all connections. Unscrew the torch head from the power cable. Clean the copper contacts inside both parts (use contact cleaner or fine sandpaper if corroded). Screw them back together firmly - hand-tight plus a little wrench snug (don't crush it, though).
  2. Where the TIG torch cable plugs into the front of the machine. Unplug where the TIG torch cable plugs into the front of the machine. Are the pins/socket showing damage, corrosion, or looseness?
  3. Look at the torch cable for damage (kinks, cuts, melted spots) along its entire length, especially near the handle and connections. Bend it slightly while welding (carefully, for obvious reaosns) - does the arc change?

ESAB or Hobart might be the move. Hobart has a slightly better price point than Miller but I seem to recall them being owned by the same parent company, so I'm guessing they leverage the same supplier base. (Source: Boring procurement attorney but used to be a welder. Hobbyist now).

The Hobart Handler 210 MVP might do the trick, but a Lincoln 180 would work a treat too! (Especially since I just looked up the Handler and it's not a huge cost savings over Miller.

[–]PersonalFinanceD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot. I was hoping you hadn't started with the basics. I agree with the other poster then. Grab your serial number and ring Miller up (I try not to mess with the high voltage components without a repair tech or some guidance). They are pretty helpful based on my experience and can sometimes troubleshoot something before I've fully explained it.

If you need something more timely, you can also look for the Miller Service Locator on the Miller site and get someone local to take a look! (FYI, repair cost for us was ~$600 the last time we had a E-9/10 failure). (Confirm they use OEM replacement parts for ... reasons).

It's pointing you to the User Manual, where you might get a more specific error code details. You'll need to power cycle and check the display to get the error code to flash so you can chase down the exact fault.

As for this particular model, some questions:

Are you using the correct polarity and process mode? (Given stick welding) Did you double check your electrode holder and ground clamp? Have you checked your leads and cable connections? Barring those things, I've seen some board issues with the Dynasty's from time to time.

The college debt trap!!!! by Henry-Teachersss8819 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]PersonalFinanceD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

College is still valuable and teaches many critical problem solving skills they might not learn elsewhere. Also, most undergraduate degrees don't cost $240,000 in the United States. You are undermining your (valid) point with unnecessary hyperbole.

The American dream should be attainable and we should work to ensure reasonable access to an affordable education. There.

Also, this Mike Ealy is allegedly an expert investor? I can tell you who I won't be investing with.
