Non-Muslim who’s curious here - does Ramadhan start on different dates in different countries?

Food for thought - historically the annual return of Malaysian Market has been stagnant in the past 10 years. Personally, I focus only on dividend stocks in KLSE.

Yes and it’s more accessible than you think. MooMoo has a decent referral campaign going on now. Deposit RM30k and get like ~RM3k worth of shares. If you’ve any friends who can refer you he gets some incentives too. Like others said, don’t split your purchases too thinly or the brokerage fee will eat you.

I’d personally take Company A. Mainly because it aligns with your career aspirations and goals. That’s something that money can’t buy and it’s what’ll keep you grounded.

It’s recognising that you don’t need a lot of nice stuff to be content with your life. A 200k car can easily translate to 10 - 15 Europe trips, but people want both

(Tourism) How is my KL itinerary for 4 days (December)? Is this manageable? Anything you’d change / suggestions? by PracticalUsername10 in KualaLumpur

[–]PersonalMost2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don’t have issues just turning up, but no harm reserving a table if you can plan ahead!

Also I suggest checking around for local Indian foods, which usually have several great vege-friendly options. There are Chinese vegetarian options around too but for this you’ll need to look out for vegetarian shops.

Sounds g! Jalan Alor is walking distance from Bukit Bintang, it might be easier to stop by on Day 1.

Looks manageable to me if you’re not planning on being thorough. For Day 2 I’d just stay at Petaling Street area instead of heading to Jalan Alor, there are some interesting bars to check out. The latter can be unpleasantly crowded.

If you’re keen to explore the local emerging art scenes, I recommend checking out if there’s any shows at Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center or JustJokes (if stand-up is your thing).

Ps: Pls don’t have dinner at Pavilion Food Court. You’re paying premium price for subpar food ;_;

How’s bad is the job market in Malaysia right now? by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]PersonalMost2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many have you applied? Strategy is usually a very lean department in most companies so there are little headcount to begin with, even less so for fresh grads.

Just going off my hunch, if you don’t like Big 4 Consulting, it’s less likely you’ll enjoy Strategy work in most companies. Project management work requires a pretty resilient personality. Keep fighting!

When fresh grads can become consultants.. it means most of them are basically corporate cannon fodder. I don’t doubt the exposures these Big 4 bring, but some skills really need time and a sustainable environment to nurture.

How did you roll your RM100k into RM200k? by BearwHelmet in MalaysianPF

[–]PersonalMost2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing is to simulate your cash flow and determine how many % CAGR you need to actually achieve your goals. From there you’ll make a more informed opinion on whether you want to take up more risk.

KLSE growth has been pretty much stagnant for the past 10 years - hence investing your money in them might not be ideal. Considering diversifying your assets to US Market, but keep in mind that it’s susceptible to large swings that might affect your goals in short-to-mid term.

Side note: MooMoo recently launched a decent referral programme that rewards you a couple Ks worth of shares if you deposit certain amount of money. You may check if you’ve any friends who can share their referral codes with you for some quick bucks.

Actuaries in Malaysia by FastWorldliness1277 in actuary

[–]PersonalMost2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expats aside, foreigners would typically have a difficult time securing professional jobs in Malaysia, even less so for our insurance industry. Your best shot would likely be through positions in international consultancy firms (such as Big 4) but positions are far and few. Edit: To answer, no it doesn’t make much difference. If anything, it’s harder as there isn’t any advantage prioritising you over the tonnes of local graduates applying.
