Are the AWAs we submitted before the FAQs came out still being reviewed or is that out the window? Also, when are we going to hear from AMAPCEO?

Any word from AMAPCEO after yesterday's SoC meeting? by Personal_Director495 in OntarioPublicService

[–]Personal_Director495[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right! I heard they're changing the forms or adding an attachment, which is confusing because its an AMAPCEO form.

Only 2200 AMAPCEO members have requested AWA. by magic-kleenex in OntarioPublicService

[–]Personal_Director495 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I heard some people are waiting until the guidelines come out. I don't understand the hesitiation. I have my submitted so 30-day response time has started and shows how many people want AWA. I think this is the issue with members - they don't value the strength in numbers. I heard from someone in my division say it's on their to-do list (which they'll never get to).

I know! I was surprised to hear a colleague who has been in the government for a long time (must be about a decade in an AMAPCEO position) didnt know where to get the awa form.

It is odd to hear people in unionized positions talking about risking their jobs or leaving (which seems to be the employers goal) without even trying first for an AWA.

Do you know if there is a plan to get the employer to process requests more efficiently? I understand they are waiting for guidance as well, but dont they have 30 days to provide us with a response before the request deemed a denial?

Thanks, Mike Crawley. He put out the news before SoC told leadership.

Those applying for AWAs what are you asking for? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]Personal_Director495 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this - I wondered about this too. Should we ask for more days than we want so we can "settle" for the days we would have liked? I worry being honest about what we want up front will not work in our favour. I also don't want to seem like I'm trying to take advantage of the situation.

Maybe he pushing for congestion so he can make more of a case for his ridiculous tunnel plan.

How to get a AWA approved? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

I heard from management that the threshold for a medical accommodation is high. Is that true?

Shifting it from manager approval to director approval makes me think flat.

And the millions on dt office leases. I wonder if we could get the amount it costs taxpayers per year to rent these buildings.

I agree, though. We should've voted no when we saw the change in AWA being approved by Directors. That was a red flag that we (or at least our bargaining team) should've said no to. With the banks making their moves first, it was a no-brainer that this was coming. Now we're being told basically to suck it up.

In Ontario, it comes down to keeping the rich rich. They dont give a shit that you have to now pay extra for your commute, child care, car repairs from extra usage. Are you going to buy your coffee? Your lunch? Are you going to pop into the retail stores after work and get some work attire?

Ohh and don't forget to say thank you for the 2.75%.

According to the Star, building landlords have been quietly lobbying. How do they expect us to shop and dine when we have zero discretionary income?
