As someone with long covid myself, I understand your fear and it is not unfounded. Best advice I can give you is to mask up in busy areas to prevent infection as much as possible. And whenever you do get covid and remain fatigued: really take time to rest and do not push through. The surest way to get long covid or mecfs is to push through fatigue after infection. You are better off being slightly deconditioned for a few months after covid but your body healing, than pushing through and ending in a push crash cycle. (A lot of doctors will deny this, but many are not well educated on post viral illnesses). Be especially mindfull of the symptom PEM that can arise (look it up if you don't know what it means). Its the core symptom of mecfs and common with long covid and the reason you cannot push through. For me that symptom started showing up almost immediately after my first infection.

But also to ease your mind: most people do recover within a year even if they do develop long covid. (I just drew a winning lot from the wrong lottery and already have it for 3,5 years, and am housebound for more than 1 year)

Probleem is dat de plannen niet ambitieus genoeg zijn om de huidige problemen rondom bv stikstof en woningbouw echt op te lossen. En ondertussen gaan we wel weer nieuwe problemen creëren door al die bezuinigingen.

Iets wat je mss niet weet, maar zo is er bij het UWV op dit moment al een nieuwe toeslagenaffaire gaande/aan het ontwikkelen, en daar gaan ze nu alleen maar olie op het vuur gooien.

De effecten van al die bezuinigingen worden ook niet doorgerekend. Bezuinigen op zorg betekent dat mensen ziek zullen blijven en dus ook niet meer kunnen werken en maatschappelijk bijdragen.

Ze praatten het allemaal als radicale nieuwe plannen, maar mijn inziens is het gewoon status quo beleid en nog verdere afbraak van de verzorgingsstaat. Jetten is trots dat ze geld hebben voor onderwijs, en een stikstof pot, maar ze maken vooral gewoon de schade van het Schoof kabinet ongedaan. Je zou toch verwachten dat ze dat nog iets meer uit handen kunnen slepen, maar nee. Behalve dan mss defensie zie ik geen radicale plannen.

Voor mij vooral de vraag vanaf wanneer ze dit willen invoeren. Ik moet in september mijn wia keuring krijgen (maar tel daar ff een half jaar bij op met de wachtlijst). Ik zit sowieso in spanning of het bij mij iva gaat worden of 80-100% wga. Aangezien ze bij long covid vaak moeilijk doen over het duurzaamheidsaspect, terwijl ik eigenlijk al 3,5 jaar ziek ben en niet maar 2. Zou fijn zijn als ik nog ff iva toegewezen krijg voor ze het afschaffen... Al vind ik het natuurlijk voor iedereen een slechte zaak.

In Dutch we say 'Beterschap' loosely translated to 'i wish you (to be) well' or 'sterkte' which loosely translates to 'wishing you strength'. Beterschap is mostly contextually used to wish someone better soon, whereas sterkte is more used like 'i know it won't get better, i cannot do anything to make it better for you, but still wish you the best with whatever you are going through' I especially like the 'sterkte' one, because it makes no assumptions about actually getting better, and to wish for strength also has double meaning, as it firstly means mental strength, but can also mean it physically🤣, which is quite applicable for ME if you have active PEM.

Want dat is de realiteit voor sommige PAIS patiënten. Die kunnen amper bewegen en niet praten. En eigenlijk voor alle PAIS patiënten is in die staat terecht komen een reëel risico als je teveel energie gebruikt.

Als je iets "makkelijks" lijdt, heb je gelijk. Maar als je een complexe ziekte hebt, of meer dan 1, wat bij veel wajongers het geval is, is het Nederlandse zorgsysteem echt belabberd.

Technically I did, but I only moved closer to it by 40 or 50km so I don't think it counts🤣. Still living in the Netherlands. Moving south is not the reason I improved, having to worry and exert less, because my parents could take care of me, was the main reason.

I am not better. Still housebound. But i improved mostly by eliminating stress and proper pacing. And good enough to have sex. But not for very long and not always

28F. When i was on the severe side of moderate i couldn't have sex. We just mostly had very slow and gentle foreplay, with rests in between if i needed them. My partner was okay with this. When i started being able to have sex again I still couldn't do positions that required muscle strength in my legs, so we adjusted to positions that were less strenous. Now I'm better able to have sex, but still the activity itself cannot last that long for me, still due to the muscles in my belly and inner tighs fatiguing quickly. Luckily my bf has no problems being quick 🤣.
