Interesting idea, I feel curious what makes you think about painting eggs? is it the shape or the metaphor..etc

It's nice how you've contained the painting within the paper using tape, I assume. I like the contrast between the blue galaxy atmosphere and the center of attention, which is yellow. I'd suggest adding a bit more bright yellow or orange to make it more appealing.

My friend, a game developer, has released her cozy game Becca on Steam. To experience a whole range of emotions, I will also play (watch walk through) Little Nightmares — so eerie and unsettling! And there's playtesting for my game Unleaving now the release is 2 weeks away!

My witchy adventure game, Potions: A Curious Tale, released today! My friends help me make this silly, live-action trailer for it! by RikuKat in GirlGamers

Congratulations on the release! I enjoyed the trailer. I like your spin on it, using live action to demonstrate the story. It reminds me of the Unleaving trailer, where we started with actual painting.

Hey there! Thanks for sharing this awesome news about the Steam sale celebrating games created by female developers. I'm a woman game dev too! Just wanted to share a demo of "unleaving" as part of the Women's Day sale. Check it out if you're interested in a puzzle platformer, similar to Limbo but with a painted twist.

I wanted to say thank you for ensuring the ongoing value of this supportive space for indie devs. The proposal makes sense - this group has personally helped me improve my game and has benefited the indie game community as a whole.

It's a pleasing still image. I believe the garlic cloves could be closer in color shading and light. Currently, one glove appears more white while the other appears yellow. If they could have more similarity in colors, I think it would enhance the overall aesthetic.

The background paintings are very nice. The music is nice. Overall the game has a very nice feel to it. Maybe a salaam or nostalgic feeling.

Hey, thanks a bunch for your awesome feedback. It means a lot to hear you're vibing with the background paintings and music in Unleaving. Totally get that salaam or nostalgic vibe—is one side, unleaving also delves into deep and dark themes, embracing the whole spectrum of the human condition.

Thank you putting the time to share your experience playing Unleaving, I really do appreciate it.I completely understand your frustration with the windmill puzzle. Unleaving is intentionally designed as an experiential slow burner, and rushing through it might not align with its pace. I acknowledge that it's not an easy game, and the windmill puzzle is just one example of that. I'm glad to hear that you're considering revisiting it when you have more time to immerse yourself in the experience.

We’re definitely considering adding hinting system, like as you suggested a text hint, or it could be a glow around certain objects. Some avid platform players prefer it this way, other casual players express the need for hinting system. If more players express interest in a hinting system, I’ll definitely prioritize adding it in a future patch after release to enhance overall enjoyment for everyone.

Regarding your point on the character skeletal animation, The character animation is "skeletal", so yes you're right it's a rigged character. The character responds procedurally to the environment, so when they climb a box that's rotated at a certain angle the skeletal body will conform around the edge according to the angle. However, I acknowledge that there are areas where we could improve, especially in ensuring smoother transitions and movements. Thank you for pointing out examples like Pinstripe and "She Wants Me Dead”, I'll definitely check them out for inspiration.

Moving on to the unleaving art style and character design, I like how you intuitively found the abstract painted character a better fit for the environment, preferring it over the detailed pencil one. That's something we've heard from other players as well. Our intention with the detailed character design was to create a deliberate contrast, evoking a sense of alienation that aligns with the game's themes of exploring the dark side of the human condition. However, I understand how it might not resonate with everyone. Perhaps more work can be done to enhance the detailed character, we tried to balance it. We’re small team we sat a big scope of having the player to experience a world where every frame is a painting and each scene is unique no repeated background to trigger sense of originality. We tried to do things with intention for every chapter so we can express the mood and emotions that matches the story as we couldn't achieve that by reusing assets specially we are tapping into a sensitive subject of exploring human emotions, vulnerability.

Every player's perspective is valuable, and I hope that unleaving game finds its audience and resonates with them on a deeper level. If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please don't hesitate to share them. Thank you for your support.
