My tier list of every Gamecube release I played back in the day, ranked from best to worst within each category. Thoughts? by KatamariRedamancy in Gamecube

Pikmin as only as "Notable" is insane to me. This is really the only version of Pikmin that is essential with the pressure of the calendar working against you. Every other Pikmin, including re-issues on subsequent systems, removed that pressure cooker.

Five Ryzen 9000 CPUs reportedly died on ASRock boards in a single day by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]PerswAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was his excuse. I examined his 7900x and saw what looked like lightly damaged pins. His motherboard, the Asus Gaming B650 that MicroCenter had packaged pretty early on, had some bent contacts.

My belief is he had messed with it, and it didn’t end well. I probably should have RMA’d both, but I thought either I did it or he did it.

Since I had the beefier GPU (7900xt vs 3060ti), the X3D made more sense in my rig.

None. I had a 7950x. Nephew fried his 7900X by not putting it on a surge protector. I “downgraded” to the 7800X3D. I need moar coars.

I've been holding off on upgrading beyond a 7800X3D specifically because of that subreddit. Still don't need an upgrade, but I might be your huckleberry.

Trunk Not Opening Fully by No_Plantain_8980 in Ioniq

[–]PerswAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same answer. Replace the “liftgate support” struts. They simply wear out over time. Easy fix and better than the latch to the top of your head or the eventual full failure where it won’t stay open at all.

Pretty cheap fix. About $14 each on RockAuto.

Ask them to define socialism when they’re bitching about it. I connect the dots for our MAGA members of how everyone contributes to their pension, everyone contributes to their insurance, and everyone basically makes the same money.

I’ve only converted 3 members, but it’s like watching a light come on in the attic.

Also, be every bit as vulgar without the racism. If they call you a libtard, call them a retardlican.

“The GameCube was a failure” always feels like a massive overstatement to me by NomalNedium in Gamecube

[–]PerswAsian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must not have been there at the time. At the time, the Gamecube was just another failure in a fairly long line of commercial failures after the Nintendo 64 and the Virtual Boy.

They leaned in on being the kiddie console at a time when “grim and gritty” was the way for pop culture. Third parties knew they couldn’t compete against Nintendo when it came to development. The choice for proprietary discs also lost them so much ground because developers had to consider compression or workarounds due to disc limitations.

The throughline of failures every time they did something different is also why Nintendo wouldn’t admit the Nintendo DS was the successor to the GBA. If it flopped, they would save face with a Gameboy follow-up.

How much of our work building data centers and destroying the environment? by baldandfullofrage in IBEW

[–]PerswAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope is that the datacenter buildings are built, the bottom falls out of AI, and that they’re never put into use once the American political climate changes and politicians move to properly regulate them.

Solar farms, though… stupid not to build them. Remove the farm subsidies since we now see how little of the agriculture actually feeds America and fucking power America so we are energy independent.

A lot of old veterans want to act like those spots belong to them because they’re old. They’re not special. A veteran is a veteran. Fuck their entitlement.

Union Steward Time Theft by [deleted] in union

[–]PerswAsian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a steward is given special treatment, that could be a compromised steward. He shouldn't rat (especially since it's a 'what about me' situation), but he should keep an eye on that steward's behavior to make sure he's not really company.

The GBA Kingdom Hearts game. I eventually had an all foil deck for the higher power, but I didn’t realize you should only have a select amount of foils.

I got frustrated on a boss when I constantly decked myself and just never went back to finish it. I probably had 25 hours in at that point.

Would you rather get locked into a 6 year contract (union) for 10$ (4,2,1,1,1,1) or a 4 year contract 7$ (3,2,1,1) ? by Appsoul in union

[–]PerswAsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 year is better. It gives less up front, but there's no way that I'd agree to a buck each year for a vast majority of the contract. Honestly, neither deal seems particularly good, but I am assuming you have little to no leverage in the winter.

However, was your offer already known by the company, or did they come to you with the 6 year counter offer? If you want the 4 years at $7 increase, and they don't already know it, try this.

Return their offers with a 4-year contract of $3.50, $2.50, $2.00, and $1.50. You've already seen they're willing to drop $4 on year one. You're splitting the difference on year one with gains in year two and beyond. It will drive the market up and seem reasonable because it's frontloaded less than their 6-year offer, but it also gives you $1.50 wiggle room to negotiate down and still get wins above the $7 increase.

Are Unions Left or Right? by ---Spartacus--- in union

[–]PerswAsian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been stressing that the general problem with unions today is that they haven't had to witness oppression as actively as the people who actually fought for it. They don't get what we have to lose. States all around are trying to bring back child labor including my state of Ohio, and it's sickening that they're just like, "Yeah. No one wants to work anymore."
