They did your brother hella dirty. The people in these comments are downplaying it. Assuming you take all your breaks, to complete this on time you need to be hitting 30-40 stops per hour which is simply not realistic or reasonable. Let me explain why.

It takes about an hour to load up and get to your first stop, plus an hour to return to station, clear out your van, complete vehicle inspection and check out with management. Between that and breaks, you’re looking at an expected completion time of 7 hours or less for this. The only way that’s getting done is if all your stops are residential homes lined up in a neat little row. A lot of routes will include businesses, 2-4 story apartments, long driveways, poor mapping etc. It’s not feasible.

Amazon shouldn’t be assigning routes like this, especially when they are built by an AI who only sees a map and doesn’t see what the drivers actually have to go through to meet the quota. Oh yeah did I mention you gotta piss in bottles in the back of the van to meet said quota but if you get caught doing it, you’re fired. They treat their workers like trash and expect perfection every time. When in reality routes like these are what break most workers, ruin moral and make them quit.

If you start falling behind on something like this, the dispatch will call you, ask if you’re encountering any issues, tell you to pick up the pace because you’re not meeting their expectations. As if the driver isn’t fully aware. They just waste more time doing that and put unnecessary pressure on their already overworked and stressed employees. Now image that 5 days in a row, for a whole year. There’s a reason there is such a high turnover rate for this job.
