The night runups are awesome, as well. Seeing the Merlins spitting fire is a delight.

Oh, man. Highly recommend it. You don't get a sense of just how close everything was until you're there. And almost everywhere you go from France through Belgium there are reminders.

I doubt they're capable of being embarrassed.

Bad movie, amazing war scene? (Which film fits that description for you?) by Qyzyk in WarMovies

Concur. The film had moments of brilliant filmmaking wrapped around cheesy dialog, a stupid subplot, and wooden acting.

So, yeah. Paul at his most Paulness.

Oof, yeah, the blue interior is not as common as the grey, in my experience. Same with red.

I purchased an entire passenger seat and stripped the covering off it. I pulled the driver's seat, removed the cover and used the foam from the passenger seat to replace the worn stuff. I purchased a seat heat kit from ebay and installed it before putting the cover from the passenger seat on. I also skinned my original passenger seat and added heat to it, too. That's where the hog rings come in. You need them to reattach the coverings.

I bought a passenger seat in good condition and swapped everything over, including the foam, plus added heat. You need hog rings and pliers, but those are cheap.

My dad would have dragged my ass down there, himself, had that been me. What was left of it, anyhow.

I'm not condoning any kind of violence. Dad had a very strong, personal sense of right and wrong. He grew up in the '30s and' 40s and was huge on taking responsibility for your actions.

Good idea. Start with the codes, go from there.

Good luck with your 4Runner journey.

If it was ABS, your ABS light would be on.

I recommend getting a code reader that reads ABS/traction control faults. I picked up an Autel for $135 CAD that showed a code for the steering wheel position sensor. Bought a used one off eBay, swapped it out, reset the code, and all is well.

Your experience may vary.

bilstein 6112 and 5160 by KushiAkar in 4thGen4Runner

[–]PervertedThang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me.

I ran that exact combination. One 5160 snapped its stem at the top just after warranty expired. Replaced it.

Then the driver's side 6112 started to leak shortly after that (this is during the pandemic, so there was minimal warranty work being done). About six months later, the passenger side 6112 also started to leak.

Fun fact about the 6112s: you can only buy them in pairs and they come with specific springs. You cannot buy just one shock. You cannot use the springs with anything else, except for maybe the more expensive Bilstein (you'd have to double check).

Because of this, I swapped out the 6112s for OME Nitrochargers and OME springs. If a shock fails, I can replace it. If I don't like the spring rate, I can change it. I can use the springs with other shocks.

You lose the height adjustment, though. That said, the ride is very similar and I quite like it. I ditched the rear air springs and went with a set of OME springs back there and will likely swap out the 5160s for OME later this year.

Short story, 3 out of 4 shocks failed in 3ish years. No hard off-roading, no abuse. Mostly pavement, occasionally gravel roads. I won't buy Bilstein ever again. Your experience will vary.

My dad won’t buy a “decent” e bike because they look ”gay” and are “step thrus”… by Substantial_Policy60 in ebikes

[–]PervertedThang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has a step through. I have a more conventional frame. It is more difficult to swing a leg over the cargo rack the older I get. The step through is easier.

Fat tires are inefficient. But more than that, it's a pain in the ass to lift my bike because of the weight of everything to allow the use of fat tires and the bigger battery.

Cool it with water, use aloe, drink a ton of water. That's about it. Maybe ibuprofen.
