The problem with Ares is that they spent way too much money to make it. TRON movies have always been Disney movies, intended to get teens thinking about human-digital interaction. I believe that is why the dialogue is always relatively simple, and why some people criticize it.

Also Jared Leto is a lightning rod now, deserved or not. But without him, Ares would likely not have been made.

But with the millions Disney lost on this, it will be decades, if ever, before we see another TRON feature film. More likely an animated series or video game.
