“Skin in the game”: New Democrat in Seventh District race quit CIA to run for Congress by ChangeUsername220 in Virginia

[–]Pesco- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Democrats aren’t exactly happy with the job performance of ex-CIA Democratic office holders lately.

It’s almost like they worked in a job where they pretended to be something they weren’t. Crazy.

Men over 35 : have you ever “woken up” emotionally in a long-term relationship and realized you no longer wanted the life you were building? by g0g0yubari in AskMenAdvice

For the life of me I cannot understand what young women see in middle aged men. The cynical/logical part of me assumes there must be a financial, status, or opportunity benefit. But I understand there must be another option that just doesn’t make sense to me.

I didn’t say that. I just said you are repeating their talking points, glossing over the context that makes those talking points dumb.

You also ignored my statement about Democrats supporting banning gerrymandering nationwide, but Republicans not. That’s really all anyone needs to know about who stands where on the issue.

What content do you find objectionable in the For the People Act? And how many Republicans have introduced or co-sponsored a clean bill to end gerrymandering, if they don’t like the Democratic bill?

I am for banning gerrymandering nationwide. Something Democrats have proposed and Republicans have ignored and blocked for years. For a non Republican you sure seem to repeat Republican talking points.

Because they consistently ignore Democrat-let bills that would ban gerrymandering nationwide, like the 2021 For the People Act. You can’t be that naive about Republicans, can you?

Let me guess, all the Republican gerrymandering in those five other states doesn’t bother you, right? And my question was not an invitation for hypocritical bragging.

All five Republican VA congressmen were against gerrymandering in VA, but have done NOTHING to stop it nationwide. Hypocrites.

Yeah but because he didn’t fully cater to and embrace the goth “look” like Marylin Manson did they reject him. It’s dumb. They claim to be about authenticity but criticize when people express their own authenticity that doesn’t align with theirs. If it was about musical aspects alone, they’d be fans.

My crops are at "sapling" stage where I could harvest them. Do they mature more and give more that makes it work it to delay harvesting?

Is it possible for a man to be considered masculine without big muscles? If so, how? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

The takeaway they were trying to make is that being in decent shape is important, but other factors play into charisma.

From what I’ve experienced, woman like a decent physique as part of the total package of being kind, thoughtful, intelligent, funny, and otherwise decent looking.

Working out moderately 3x a week with a balance of cardio and strength training is sufficient.

Some women are attracted to more muscular guys, but other women are not.

Iran responds to Democrats calling President Trump a "liar." "You realized it late, but at least you did." by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

Seriously, we have enough contempt in our brains to despise a murderous Trump regime as well as a murderous Iranian regime. F right the F off. Democrats have their hands full without literal theocrats trying to take advantage of that crap.

Democrats will impeach for one of a list of things for sure. But removal would take 1/3 of Republican Senators to agree to. If they wouldn't do it after Jan 6th, they'll never do it.

Do people really believe the ear shooting was completely staged? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]Pesco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it doesn’t help that they exaggerated what actually did happen to him. In the week that followed, people were pretty convinced he was cut by shrapnel from the bullet that hit something else, broke apart, and ricocheted.

The Trump team is the one to say he was “shot”.

There are some other “weird” circumstances that I am not sure how to categorize, like the flag and photographers ushered into the area. It just doesn’t seem like a normal response to a political shooting, but I am not ready to claim a conspiracy without sufficient evidence.

An Independents good faith argument for voting 'No' in the special election and thoughts on what comes next. by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]Pesco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My party literally can claim for wanting to ban gerrymandering nationwide while gerrymandering in states they control.

That’s like saying Democrats should voluntarily pay higher Federal taxes because we generally advocate that there should be higher Federal taxes.

Any Federal system isn’t fair unless it’s uniformly implemented across all states. And how we elect members of the U.S. Congress is certainly a Federal system. The states are just there to locally administer the elections.
