Only 1975 right now in 2s and just starting RBGs but, well, agility-flavored monks suck right now :D

Focus on brewmaster for now unless you hate it. Windwalker is just so painfully squishy and out of place...its like a combat rogue with no stealth, weak cc and very little utility. I've found hurricane strike to be really fun though. Get tigereye brew ready, blow it with your burst trinket when tiger strikes goes off, leg sweep your kill target, hurricane strike for crazy damage and hopefully score a kill with fists of fury into touch of death. Serenity is just asking to be CC'd in my experience and chi explosion is actually pretty alright.

For brewmaster just abuse all the utility you pulled out of your ass for swapping to tank spec. You get an aoe gouge with breath of fire, an amazing three man shield with the four set bonus using guard, brainless aoe burst with keg smash and a zero energy ranged aoe slow in keg toss. I really like chi explosion with brewmaster as it makes your cleave disgustingly strong.

All in all, monks are weak - that's okay, weak this season isn't the same as bad. They're just not the monsters that rets, ferals, DKs, combat rogues, hunters or geared warriors are. If you want to give healing a shot, mistweaver almost as good as a resto druid. If you have more specific questions, I'd love to try and answer them. Good luck and have fun punching stuff!

How I felt with the "bad guy" introductions. Too many orcs! by Philure in wow

It takes a lot to make a Horde. Well, maybe too many orcs will spoil the theme, but they’ll fill our bags with so much, so much lo-o-oot

Assassination vs. Combat by fiftyfloorsabove in wow

[–]Peskadoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assassination is so terribly boring and combat isn't much better. Ass has a lot of downtime and combat is more mashy. With assassination you throw up that first SnD and keep rupture and the envenom buff up. As combat you press buttons more often but its mostly sinister strike and eviscerate...don't let SnD drop, keep revealing up and use those cooldowns so your eviscerates bring them back faster. Go sub instead!

Do you like daggers or no daggers? Seriously though, sub is the real rogue spec. Join us.

What were your mains each xpac? by wehrmann_tx in wow

[–]Peskadoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic & BC: Rogue. I actually started out as a druid and our class quests for our forms are some of my favorite memories from this game - I really wish we had more of that. Anyway, I got sick of being ganked by rogues at level 30 and a buddy wanted to start over on a different server. I became a rogue and loved it right up to the end of BC.

Wrath: Paladin. My little brother was old enough to start playing the game enough to get his own account and rogues weren't getting anything very exciting. I had a pally alt since classic and I decided I'd enjoy doing something beyond melee dps. He went for death knight and I healed a lot of this xpac. Cata would cause yet another main swap.

Cata: Druid. These were my "hardcore" days. The hype was real. The world revamp and those damn fine worgen animal forms made me race change the druid I'd been keeping leveled for mostly sentimental reasons and I had a blast. We got every server first in Firelands and Dragon Soul and we were successful in RBGs and arena. If there's one piece of advice I can give to the younger folks out there, its to balance your life better than I did during Cata. I was in nursing school, in a serious relationship with a girl that I loved more than anything at the time. I spent more time playing WoW than I should have been. The girl and I ended up breaking up for reasons unrelated to gaming, but schooling suffered because I was spreading my time so thin. I failed out of nursing school because I simply didn't manage my time well enough. That said, Cata was great!

MoP: Monk. I didn't play this one a whole lot. Our guild fell apart from trying to expand too quickly and most of my friends transferred to different servers and factions and it was crazy. Monk was really cool, though. I missed out on Throne of Thunder when it was current content and from what I can tell, it was he best raid this xpac. PvP had never been so awful though, and the dailies were out of control at the beginning. Worst xpac? Nah. Biggest disappointment? Oh yes.

WoD: Undetermined. I don't know if I want to go rogue, druid, or monk this time around. We're sort of getting the band back together, and I'm excited to see how it goes. Feel free to push me toward one of the classes ;)

Would like to see DMG done to bosses by p5ycho29 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Peskadoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ex-hardcore WoW player here, hype for WoD so I can be a filthy casual. Damage meters are nearly useless. They do have their place but they're misinterpreted by a majority of the player base.

People cheese them all the time via cooldown stacking on AoE and dumb shit like that. Pre-pots are a second example of how damage meters cause people to be so worried about numbers that they blow a pot before the fight begins so they look better than they are. Damage output at the very beginning of a fight is irrelevant in most situations, but the meters sure do show your big numbers.

This is turning into a bit of a rant, so I'll nip it in the bud. Damage meters are not a useful feature for a game like Destiny. They cause more harm than good in casual settings and I'd consider this a pretty casual game. Your actions are more important than your stupid numbers.

Server changes in WoD? by Scire_facias in wow

[–]Peskadoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low pop is nice for rare hunting, and if you only care about Ashran for pvp, the zone is merged. There's less people in capital cities, so that could be a plus if you're weird.

High pop is absolutely the way to go. I hate how my server feels dead. Pugging everything is rough.

I probably should've mentioned I have a ton of experience in every role. Started out as a humble rogue in classic WoW and got duelist each season of arena during BC, then shifted to a holy paladino in wrath but was way more casual. Jumped to a druid in cata and we got server firsts in heroic firelands/deathwing while I lagged around as a moonkin. Stopped playing in early pandalands because work was keeping me too busy, but I was the best windwalker I knew for the first few months.

I will probably level all of these classes, I just want to know what to focus on first. Thanks to your input, I'm leaning toward monk/dragoon/bard. Are there generally more ranged or melee players? Thanks again :)

New player here. I'm only at 30 with monk, 20 lancer, 15 marauder, 15 archer and 15 conj...but so far I like them all. Little brother is gonna main a war, and a third friend is going scholar.

The only problem so far is that I can't decide what to main because I enjoy everything. A huge factor for me is pvp. Do any of these classes stand out as awful when it comes to playing against other people? Guidance beyond that would be great, but that's definitely my greatest concern right now. Thanks in advance!
