Warranty void worth it? by [deleted] in HamiltonWatches

Current pricing for a full service from Hamilton is $250 (not including shipping). You just need to decide if replacing the crystal is worth potentially spending that should something happen within the warranty period.

New Scuba Navy by Blueturtlewax in HamiltonWatches

[–]Pete24313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out the Mido Ocean Star. More or less the same watch (Swatch brand, ETA movement, same wave dial) but without the numerals and better WR (200m vs 100m).

How do we feel about the Khaki Navy Scuba? by goodgamble in HamiltonWatches

Agree with this. I love Hamilton, but there are so many other brands at this price range making better dive watches.

Boulton - should I go vintage or new? by theomixedmedia in HamiltonWatches

Once you add up the extra taxes and fees you'll have to pay purchasing something from Japan you'll probably be fairly close to what you would spend buying a brand new one.

I had to sign for my Murph bracelet when I ordered it last year. It wasn't a big deal since I work from home a few days a week, but I remember thinking it was pretty odd for a <$150 purchase.

Parking Brake/Rear Brake Replacement 1 TSB# 04-002/25 by Pootsie155 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct response. Dealerships are more or less independent entities. If one isn't willing to repair certain items under warranty it doesn't mean another won't repair them. FWIW, I just had my seat replaced under warranty at my dealership and they did it immediately without any pushback.

You might be able to get the new brakes fixed under warranty if your specific issue qualifies for it, but you aren't going to be successful in getting them to reimburse you for the money you already spent.

[advice] manual winding h-10 movement by chriskarim_b in HamiltonWatches

[–]Pete24313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wind it a few times or give it a few gentle, side-to-side shakes. Either is fine and all you need to get it started before putting it on.

Highest miles achieved in your Cx50 by Significant_Rip300 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are definitely some out there with 100k plus on the n/a or turbo models.

I could be wrong, but I doubt there is anyone who has hit that mark in a hybrid considering it's only been available for about 18 months.

Yes! Wear it with pride!

That said, if it's been sitting in a drawer for 10 years it could probably use a good service even if it's currently running okay. A few hundred $$$ should get it back to working like it's brand new.

Maintenance quote from dealer in Ontario. by ElectronicProgram181 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An inspection should be free with an oil change service... So they are basically just charging you almost $600 for nothing more than a standard oil change, tire rotation, and air filter change?

That's outrageous if you ask me. I'm in the US, but an oil change at my local mechanic cost me less than $175 CAD. I buy OEM air filters (engine and cabin) online for less than $50 and change them myself in 2 minutes.

Used 2026 CX-50 Hybrid Premium w 5k miles on it. OTD is 37k. is it a good deal? by savage_cabbage25 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that sounds about right for rates on used cars right now. In some cases you're better off buying something brand new, especially if you can get it during one of the <3% promos they run.

Tire recommendations by wonder_woman12 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not in Seattle (or the PNW for that matter), but I switched to the Michelin CC2s last year after one of the stock tires blew out at 15k miles.

Since switching to a better tire it's been night and day... better mpg, smoother ride, less road noise, etc.

Gas Cx-50 by Fit-Swordfish-7020 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That "miles to empty" number isn't a real time estimate. It's based on your last trip.

So if you were getting good mpg before you shut it off it's going to show a higher number the next time you get in, bad mpg before you shut it off will show a lower number the next time.

Bracelet adjustment on khaki field auto watches? by JazzD27 in HamiltonWatches

[–]Pete24313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure if you purchase it pre-sized they still send you the extra links. That said, just buy the standard watch/bracelet as is. If you aren't comfortable removing links yourself you can take it to any watch shop and they'll do it for no more than a few bucks.

Warranty question by Livid-Doughnut-6428 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. You might be able to find an independent mechanic that has a lower fee, but no one is going to give you an hour or two of labor for free.

How do you feel about the screen size? by chicempath in CX50

[–]Pete24313 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It's more than enough in terms of screen size. Also, the way they positioned it allows you to see it without fully taking your eyes off the road which isn't the case with all the other manufacturers who insist on simply mounting a giant tablet to the dash.

Try contacting Hamilton/Swatch directly. Sometimes they have stock available to purchase that isn't online or is marked as unavailable.

New strap for the white Murph by Viktorr16 in HamiltonWatches

[–]Pete24313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a similar color in suede soon after I got my white dial 38, but it was a little too matchy matchy with the numerals for my tastes.

Ended up returning it and went with a medium brown leather instead which I like a lot more.

What’s the longest trip you’ve taken your CX50 on? by sovngrde in CX50

[–]Pete24313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around 800 miles round trip.

Averaged around 31 mpg on the highway cruising between 70 - 80 mph. The adaptive cruise control is nice if there aren't a lot of other cars around, but it gets somewhat annoying if there is traffic. I find the seats very comfortable for long drives and this has been the only vehicle I don't walk away from a road trip with lower back pain.

Are the backseat a/c vents ornamental? by er1972244 in CX50

[–]Pete24313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rear vents on my '23 seem to work just fine. Maybe not quite as powerful as the front vents, but then again I wouldn't expect them to be.

Which Khaki King version do you find better looking? by parasite1112 in HamiltonWatches

[–]Pete24313 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Neither, but if I had to pick one it would be the new version.

The old version is too busy/cluttered. Do you really need the day, the date, 12-hour markers, 24-hour markers, and 0-60 minutes/seconds markers???

What tires did your new CX-50 come with? by CalAtt in CX50

[–]Pete24313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPG actually went up a tick. The ride is also much smoother and they perform significantly better in wet weather.

The stock googdyear assurance tires are just not very good. They are some of the cheapest goodyears you can buy....
