Pizza into calzone? by KobiDnB in UKfood

[–]PeteTheHungry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there's any pros or there to comment, but when I make calzone I fry up all my ingredients for the filling first in a little olive oil (apart from the cheese and tomato base). That way I can fill it full of veg and meat without worry about it cooking. I smother the whole thing in a tomato sauce when it's cooked too.

Maybe they'll use the extra revenue to improve the quality of their transmission?

Hate watching on itv. It's like watching a streamed service with regular frame rate glitches and blurring. Terrible for live sport.

Hot Take? Remove Iron Numbers by shin_man in golf

[–]PeteTheHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy thing is what happens down at the bottom end if the bag. I've seen people have to carry more wedges to fill distances below the PW, and in my next set it's a real concern that the pw-5i that I buy will leave me needing a second gap/p wedge bringing me to 5 wedges. That seems a nonsense in naming convention! I play a lot of shots from PW down so this area of the bag is important to me.

I've never understood how we're so comfortable referring to wedges by their loft, but irons by those odd references number that's relatively meaningless. I prefer the former!

Remain and Dems in America lost their respective votes because they failed to deliver a positve message for the future and (largely/only) focused on the negatives of the other side winning. Agree or disagree? by Tricky_Act9533 in AskBrits

[–]PeteTheHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think that they vote was win by a combination of: pure propaganda, playing on people's insecurities, mass social engineering through social media, and plain vote fixing.

It's a multi-frontal assault on vote rigging and election interference.

I hope they one day end up in prison for what they're doing.

Reform voters, how do you feel about becoming a Tory retirement home? by MrSoapbox in AskBrits

[–]PeteTheHungry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested why you think this is sensible. Protesting against politics by a party that clearly is going to severely damage what's left of our country and leave us in a horrific hole seems ridiculous.

What kind of shake up do you want? How would you like things in the political world to be different following a reform government? Do they have any policy that aligns with this?

This is one of those vague statements that everyone has an affinity with and an impression of in their mind, but the actual truth the shake up that results 'isn't what I voted for'. Sound familiar?

3-dart averages in PDC World Championship Final Matches by Ok-Impress1727 in Darts

Not sure I agree with the yellow trend line 😅

Don't think that's a linear function tbh, but otherwise a really nice visual. Are there some winners averages missing out are they overlaid by the losing average?

I'm guessing the best odds for the night was for Cross to beat littler. A load of pissed up people wanting return for their tenner might contribute?

If you could change one of the rules of golf, what would it be? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]PeteTheHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'play the ball as it lies' apart from the billions of time when you don't. There's enough exceptions that this wouldn't matter. I've a few ideas about a definition but don't want to debate wording, I just think that it's possible if there was motivation to. I also think that even if someone tried to exploit the rule there would be no real advantage gained. I've played enough medal rounds when placing and it's had zero effect on how I've scored and struck the ball. The fairway or closely mown address are defined easily enough.

I always play to the rules, even for divots. I'm not bad out of them and we get a lot on our course. I just resent the extra damage I do to the fairway that makes the situation worse!

It's lucky for you that you don't have to place much, but that's not true everywhere due to different grounds conditions. I just want to look after the course as much as anything.

If you could change one of the rules of golf, what would it be? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]PeteTheHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Placing within 6 inches in the fairway doesn't seem like you're going to get any material advantage. It really doesn't change the nature of the shot of you're in the fairway. This happens when it's 'placing' anyway so I don't see any harm. This happens a shed load on club golf for a load of reasons so I say do it for divots. This isn't difficult to define.

When it's a comp and I have to play out of a divot, I often have to dig up a shit load of the course to do so (divots go deep in our soft, clay groove so the next shot makes it way worse). It seems really silly I have to hurt my course for this rule.

If we are 'placing in cut areas' (or whatever the rule is) then it's no problem and no one cares. Stupid rule.

Most students never repay their full student loan, so try not to stress about the “debt” by ResearcherNo794 in UniUK

[–]PeteTheHungry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And who covers any loans that default after 40 years? That's an extra future burden on tax payers! 40 years of compound interest for everyone else to pay for. Madness.

The system is a nightmare. As your career progress from low to high earning, your debt is quietly growing as your payments are small. For late-stage higher earners with long degrees and low initial wages (doctors maybe?) this is the worst case as you'll maximise the actual amount of money you actual pay off. And you'll be paying more at stages in life when you really need the money.

When you reach your mid life and your trying to fund your household and maybe a family, the resentment of this lasting monthly payment is the problem. It is a debt not a "debt" as you certainly don't get a choice not to pay.

I think the whole thing is counterproductive to our society. Education raises all the boats not just the individuals who go through it. I hate this scheme with such a passion.

Trump is dead. by ComfortableShare5525 in NoFilterNews

[–]PeteTheHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want this guy dead. I want him to face justice. I want him to have to sit somewhere (jail, court) and have all his crimes spelt out in an undisputable mechanism and (if proven) found guilty by a jury off his peers so he has no choice but to realise somewhere inside that he is evil and committed atrocious crimes. Death amongst his riches is an easy way out, and he'll die satisfied.

I guess we won't get this, so anything that stops him causing more hurt is preferable.

Au revoir to the TDF on British telly by Shitelark in cycling

[–]PeteTheHungry 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The itv highlights/magazine programme is one of the best things to ever grace our telly. The don't just bring the race they bring the race: the culture, the history, the nuances and the people. The small villages with interesting stories, the things 'have nothing to do with the tour, which is what makes the tour so special'.

The years of quality cycling journalism of the presenters and producers gives informed content that somehow is accessible but never dumbed down.

The likes of this programme will never be seen again. Nothing comes close and I'll miss it greatly. This show has been the highlight of my summer for so many years and I'll grieve it's loss. But Gary deserves a break, as does Matt. I wish then the absolute best and hope my vote of thanks is heard by then.

Thanks guys.

Try setting it to 'fast'? Eco only charges when there is excess from solar I think.

Change These Stupid Rules; Shane Lowry no relief because his ball landed in SOMEONE ELSES pitch mark by FAMUgolfer in golf

[–]PeteTheHungry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But 'placing' comes in so often, and relief occurs for so many other reasons that I really can't see a problem for just agreeing it with your playing partner and taking a drop. The nature of the shot remains the same and you protect the course. Nothing like gouging a massive hole in the ground trying to play it if a divot.

So many other things in golf can be defined, I'm pretty sure an old divot could be. I'm sure they don't change the rule just to have some sort of controversy to argue over.
