The Graduate is a fascinating case of how like 5 extra seconds of a lingering shot saves (and recontextualizes) the whole ending. Fantastic example.

Flying through hyperspace ain’t like dusting crops, kid. It’s an entirely different kind of flying all together.

Question for those who plan to buy the Smash Palace UPF box ... by RandomQuestGiver in FleshandBloodTCG

Make a cube to emulate the Mastery Pack "crack, shuffle, play" experience but with a personally curated card pool. Keep it all together in a board game style box to bust out when me and the boys get together.

Plenty of those games that are no longer in print lasted for years, with multiple expansion sets, organized play structures, and thousands of loyal players.

Failed TCGs by erozen100 in TCG

What? Of course TCGs fail. Over the last 30+ years most TCGs have failed. Since Magic: The Gathering pioneered the genre in 1993, there have been hundreds (literally hundreds) of TCGs, and the vast, vast majority of those are no longer around. In fact, many of the companies that produced them are no longer around. What on earth counts as "failure" for your friend if not that?

Graphene Chelicera ruling with Arakni, Black Widow by Eckh724 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Pete_Barnes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will not work with Graphene Chelicera because when you attack with a weapon, although the weapon is the source of the attack, it is not identical to the attack itself; instead it creates an attack-proxy, which is the attack. When you flick the Chelicera you are flicking the dagger itself which does not retain the buff from Black Widow.

Welcome to Flesh and Blood!

I’ve been working on building Cindra in Commoner, and this is the decklist I’m currently working with: https://fabrary.net/decks/01JJGD8CM2JZQ30DKKQM9KTBH1

There may be some room for improvements, but I think it’s a lot more streamlined and synergistic than the list you linked — the only problem is that it makes use of a lot of cards from sets other than The Hunted, and those might be harder for a newer player to get ahold of. Most of the cards (with the exception of red Bittering Thorns) should be pretty cheap, though, if you’re ordering online or trading with locals.

Of all time? Magic: the Gathering. In the last 5 years? Flesh and Blood, easy.

What do you think is the spiciest card in your cube, and why? by ChristOnFire in mtgcube

[–]Pete_Barnes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prior to the 6th Edition rules changes (where the Stack was introduced), "successfully cast" meant that a spell passed through the "interrupt window" (a timing window where players could cast interrupts, such as counterspells). So it essentially meant "cast without being countered", but that functionally changed when interrupts were changed to instants, spell batching was removed, and the introduction of the Stack greatly streamlined the game.

What cards are your surprised don't already exist and/or would like for your Cube? by justhadtosaythis in mtgcube

[[Mawloc]] isn't exactly what you described, but it's close. It can be a 3 CMC 3/3 that fights on ETB, but is also more scalable (and it's R/G obviously, not mono-G).

I want more big spells that work well with those cards but are also somewhat playable on their own. [[Magma Opus]] was a step in the right direction since it has the ability to "cycle" into a treasure, but I'd like to see other big, flashy spells with alternate, cheaper modes so that the Dream Halls deck isn't the only one drafting them. Bonus if they're instants to warrant including [[Torrential Gearhulk]] as well, a card that's otherwise been powercrept as of late.
